Psalms 142: Douay-Rheims and Septuagint (Sixtine edition, 1587)
Douay-RheimsSeptuagint (Sixtine edition, 1587)
1Hear, O Lord, my prayer: give ear to my supplication in thy truth: hear me in thy justice.Ψαλμὸς τῷ Δαυὶδ, ὅτε αὐτὸν ὁ υἱὸς κατεδιώκει.
2And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight no man living shall be justified.Καὶ μὴ εἰσέλθῃς εἰς κρίσιν μετὰ τοῦ δούλου σου, ὅτι οὐ δικαιωθήσεται ἐνώπιόν σου πᾶς ζῶν.
3For the enemy hath persecuted my soul: he hath brought down my life to the earth. He hath made me to dwell in darkness as those that have been dead of old:Ὅτι κατεδίωξεν ὁ ἐχθρὸς τὴν ψυχήν μου· ἐταπείνωσεν εἰς τὴν γῆν τὴν ζωήν μου, ἐκάθισέ με ἐν σκοτεινοῖς ὡς νεκροὺς αἰῶνος,
4And my spirit is in anguish within me: my heart within me is troubled.καὶ ἠκηδίασεν ἐπʼ ἐμὲ τὸ πνεῦμά μου· ἐν ἐμοὶ ἐταράχθη ἡ καρδία μου.
5I remembered the days of old, I meditated on all thy works: I meditated upon the works of thy hands.Ἐμνήσθην ἡμερῶν ἀρχαίων· καὶ ἐμελέτησα ἐν πᾶσι τοῖς ἔργοις σου, ἐν ποιήμασι τῶν χειρῶν σου ἐμελέτων.
6I stretched forth my hands to thee: my soul is as earth without water unto thee.Διεπέτασα πρὸς σὲ τὰς χεῖράς μου, ἡ ψυχή μου ὡς γῆ ἄνυδρός σοι· διάψαλμα.
7Hear me speedily, O Lord: my spirit hath fainted away. Turn not away thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.Ταχὺ εἰσάκουσόν μου, Κύριε, ἐξέλιπε τὸ πνεῦμά μου· μὴ ἀποστρέψῃς τὸ πρόσωπόν σου ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ, καὶ ὁμοιωθήσομαι τοῖς καταβαίνουσιν εἰς λάκκον.
8Cause me to hear thy mercy in the morning; for in thee have I hoped. Make the way known to me, wherein I should walk: for I have lifted up my soul to thee.Ἀκουστὸν ποίησόν μοι τοπρωῒ τὸ ἔλεός σου, ὅτι ἐπὶ σοὶ ἤλπισα· γνώρισόν μοι, Κύριε, ὁδὸν ἐν ᾗ πορεύσομαι, ὅτι πρὸς σὲ ᾖρα τὴν ψυχήν μου.
9Deliver me from my enemies, O Lord, to thee have I fled:Ἐξελοῦ με ἐκ τῶν ἐχθρῶν μου Κύριε, ὅτι πρὸς σὲ κατέφυγον.
10Teach me to do thy will, for thou art my God. Thy good spirit shall lead me into the right land:Δίδαξόν με τοῦ ποιεῖν τὸ θέλημά σου, ὅτι Θεός μου εἶ σὺ, τὸ πνεῦμά σου τὸ ἁγαθὸν ὁδηγήσει με ἐν τῇ εὐθείᾳ.
11For thy name’s sake, O Lord, thou wilt quicken me in thy justice. Thou wilt bring my soul out of trouble:Ἕνεκα τοῦ ὀνόματός σου, Κύριε, ζήσεις με, ἐν τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ σου ἐξάξεις ἐκ θλίψεως τὴν ψυχήν μου.
12And in thy mercy thou wilt destroy my enemies. And thou wilt cut off all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant.Καὶ ἐν τῷ ἐλέει σου ἐξολοθρεύσεις τοὺς ἐχθρούς μου, καὶ ἀπολεῖς πάντας τοὺς θλίβοντας τὴν ψυχήν μου, ὅτι δοῦλός σου εἰμὶ ἐγώ.

Jesus laments over Jerusalem, which kills the prophets

The same day, there came some of the Pharisees, saying to him: Depart, and get thee hence, for Herod hath a mind to kill thee. And he said to them: Go and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and do cures today and…
