Psalms 82: Douay-Rheims and Septuagint (Sixtine edition, 1587)
Douay-RheimsSeptuagint (Sixtine edition, 1587)
A canticle of a psalm for Asaph.Ὠδὴ ψαλμοῦ τῷ Ἀσάφ.
O God, who shall be like to thee? hold not thy peace, neither be thou still, O God.Ὁ Θεὸς, τίς ὁμοιωθήσεταί σοι; μὴ σιγήσῃς, μηδὲ καταπραΰνῃς ὁ Θεός.
For lo, thy enemies have made a noise: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.Ὅτι ἰδοὺ οἱ ἐχθροί σου ἤχησαν· καὶ οἱ μισοῦντές σε ᾖραν κεφαλήν.
They have taken a malicious counsel against thy people, and have consulted against thy saints.Ἐπὶ τὸν λαόν σου κατεπανουργεύσαντο γνώμην, καὶ ἐβουλεύσαντο κατὰ τῶν ἁγίων σου.
They have said: Come and let us destroy them, so that they be not a nation: and let the name of Israel be remembered no more.Εἶπαν, δεῦτε καὶ ἐξολοθρεύσωμεν αὐτοὺς ἐξ ἔθνους, καὶ οὐ μὴ μνησθῇ τὸ ὄνομα Ἰσραὴλ ἔτι.
For they have contrived with one consent: they have made a covenant together against thee,Ὅτι ἐβουλεύσαντο ἐν ὁμονοίᾳ ἐπιτοαυτὸ, κατὰ σοῦ διαθήκην διέθεντο·
The tabernacles of the Edomites, and the Ismahelites: Moab, and the Agarens,Τὰ σκηνώματα τῶν Ἰδουμαίων καὶ οἱ Ἰσμαηλῖται, Μωὰβ καὶ οἱ Ἀγαρηνοὶ,
Gebal, and Ammon and Amalec: the Philistines, with the inhabitants of Tyre.Γεβὰλ καὶ Ἀμμὼν καὶ Ἀμαλὴκ, καὶ ἀλλόφυλοι μετὰ τῶν κατοικούντων Τύρον.
Yea, and the Assyrian also is joined with them: they are come to the aid of the sons of Lot.Καὶ γὰρ καὶ Ἀσσοὺρ συμπαρεγένετο μετʼ αὐτῶν, ἐγενήθησαν εἰς ἀντίληψιν τοῖς υἱοῖς Λώτ· διάψαλμα.
Do to them as thou didst to Madian and to Sisara: as to Jabin at the brook of Cisson.Ποίησον αὐτοῖς ὡς τῇ Μαδιὰμ καὶ τῷ Σεισάρᾳ, ὡς τῷ Ἰαβεὶν ἐν τῷ χειμάῤῥῳ Κεισῶν.
Who perished at Endor: and became as dung for the earth.Ἐξωλοθρεύθησαν ἐν Ἀενδὼρ, ἐγενήθησαν ὡσεὶ κόπρος τῇ γῇ.
Make their princes like Oreb, and Zeb, and Zebee, and Salmana.
Who have said: Let us possess the sanctuary of God for an inheritance.Οἵτινες εἶπαν, κληρονομήσωμεν ἑαυτοῖς τὸ θυσιαστήριον τοῦ Θεοῦ.
O my God, make them like a wheel; and as stubble before the wind.Ὁ Θεός μου θοῦ αὐτοὺς ὡς τροχὸν, ὡς καλάμην κατὰ πρόσωπον ἀνέμου.
As fire which burneth the wood: and as a flame burning mountains:Ὡσεὶ πῦρ ὃ διαφλέξει δρυμὸν, ὡσεὶ φλὸξ κατακαύσαι ὄρη·
So shalt thou pursue them with thy tempest: and shalt trouble them in thy wrath.Οὕτως καταδιώξεις αὐτοὺς ἐν τῇ καταιγίδι σου, καὶ ἐν τῇ ὀργῇ σου ταράξεις αὐτούς.
Fill their faces with shame; and they shall seek thy name, O Lord.Πλήρωσον τὰ πρόσωπα αὐτῶν ἀτιμίας, καὶ ζητήσουσι τὸ ὄνομά σου Κύριε.
Let them be ashamed and troubled for ever and ever: and let them be confounded and perish.Αἰσχυνθήτωσαν καὶ ταραχθήτωσαν εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τοῦ αἰῶνος, καὶ ἐντραπήτωσαν καὶ ἀπολέσθωσαν.
And let them know that the Lord is thy name: thou alone art the most High over all the earth.Καὶ γνώτωσαν ὅτι ὄνομά σοι Κύριος· σὺ μόνος ὕψιστος ἐπὶ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν.

Jesus laments over Jerusalem, which kills the prophets

The same day, there came some of the Pharisees, saying to him: Depart, and get thee hence, for Herod hath a mind to kill thee. And he said to them: Go and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and do cures today and…
