Psalms 63: Douay-Rheims and Septuagint (Sixtine edition, 1587)
Douay-RheimsSeptuagint (Sixtine edition, 1587)
1Unto the end, a psalm for David.Εἰς τὸ τέλος, ψαλμὸς τῷ Δαυίδ.
2Hear, O God, my prayer, when I make supplication to thee: deliver my soul from the fear of the enemy.Εἰσάκουσον ὁ Θεὸς τῆς προσευχῆς μου ἐν τῷ δέεσθαί με πρὸς σὲ, ἀπὸ φόβου ἐχθροῦ ἐξελοῦ τὴν ψυχήν μου.
3Thou hast protected me from the assembly of the malignant; from the multitude of the workers of iniquity.Ἐσκέπασάς με ἀπὸ συστροφῆς πονηρευομένων, ἀπὸ πλήθους ἐργαζομένων ἀδικίαν·
4For they have whetted their tongues like a sword; they have bent their bow a bitter thing,Οἵτινες ἠκόνησαν ὡς ῥομφαίαν τὰς γλώσσας αὐτῶν, ἐνέτειναν τόξον πρᾶγμα πικρὸν,
5To shoot in secret the undefiled.τοῦ κατατοξεῦσαι ἐν ἀποκρύφοις ἄμωμον, ἐξάπινα κατατοξεύσουσιν αὐτὸν, καὶ οὐ φοβηθήσονται.
6They will shoot at him on a sudden, and will not fear: they are resolute in wickedness. They have talked of hiding snares; they have said: Who shall see them?Ἐκραταίωσαν ἑαυτοῖς λόγον πονηρὸν, διηγήσαντο τοῦ κρύψαι παγίδας· εἶπαν, τίς ὄψεται αὐτούς;
7They have searched after iniquities: they have failed in their search. Man shall come to a deep heart:Ἐξηρεύνησαν ἀνομίαν, ἐξέλιπον ἐξερευνῶντες ἐξερευνήσει· προσελεύσεται ἄνθρωπος, καὶ καρδία βαθεῖα,
8And God shall be exalted. The arrows of children are their wounds:καὶ ὑψωθήσεται ὁ Θεός· βέλος νηπίων ἐγενήθησαν αἱ πληγαὶ αὐτῶν,
9And their tongues against them are made weak. All that saw them were troubled;καὶ ἐξουθένησαν αὐτὸν αἱ γλῶσσαι αὐτῶν· ἐταράχθησαν πάντες οἱ θεωροῦντες αὐτοὺς,
10And every man was afraid. And they declared the works of God: and understood his doings.καὶ ἐφοβήθη πᾶς ἄνθρωπος· καὶ ἀνήγγειλαν τὰ ἔργα τοῦ Θεοῦ, καὶ τὰ ποιήματα αὐτοῦ συνῆκαν.
11The just shall rejoice in the Lord, and shall hope in him: and all the upright in heart shall be praised.Εὐφρανθήσεται δίκαιος ἐν τῷ Κυρίῳ, καὶ ἐλπιεῖ ἐπʼ αὐτόν· καὶ ἐπαινεθήσονται πάντες οἱ εὐθεῖς τῇ καρδίᾳ.

Jesus laments over Jerusalem, which kills the prophets

The same day, there came some of the Pharisees, saying to him: Depart, and get thee hence, for Herod hath a mind to kill thee. And he said to them: Go and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and do cures today and…
