Douay-RheimsSeptuagint (Sixtine edition, 1587)
ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord.Ἀλληλούϊα. Μακάριοι ἄμωμοι ἐν ὁδῷ, οἱ πορευόμενοι ἐν νόμῳ Κυρίου.
Blessed are they who search his testimonies: that seek him with their whole heart.Μακάριοι οἱ ἐξερευνῶντες τὰ μαρτύρια αὐτοῦ, ἐν ὅλῃ καρδίᾳ ἐκζητήσουσιν αὐτόν.
For they that work iniquity, have not walked in his ways.Οὐ γὰρ οἱ ἐργαζόμενοι τὴν ἀνομίαν ἐν ταῖς ὁδοῖς αὐτοῦ ἐπορεύθησαν.
Thou hast commanded thy commandments to be kept most diligently.Σὺ ἐνετείλω τὰς ἐντολάς σου, τοῦ φυλάξασθαι σφόδρα.
O! that my ways may be directed to keep thy justifications.Ὄφελον κατευθυνθείησαν αἱ ὁδοί μου, τοῦ φυλάξασθαι τὰ δικαιώματά σου.
Then shall I not be confounded, when I shall look into all thy commandments.Τότε οὐ μὴ αἰσχυνθῶ, ἐν τῷ με ἐπιβλέπειν ἐπὶ πάσας τὰς ἐντολάς σου.
I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned the judgments of thy justice.Ἐξομολογήσομαί σοι ἐν εὐθύτητι καρδίας, ἐν τῷ μεμαθηκέναι με τὰ κρίματα τῆς δικαιοσύνης σου.
I will keep thy justifications: O! do not thou utterly forsake me.Τὰ δικαιώματά σου φυλάξω, μή με ἐγκαταλίπῃς ἕως σφόδρα.
BETH. By what doth a young man correct his way? by observing thy words.Ἐν τίνι κατορθώσει νεώτερος τὴν ὁδὸν αὐτοῦ; ἐν τῷ φυλάξασθαι τοὺς λόγους σου.
With my whole heart have I sought after thee: let me not stray from thy commandments.Ἐν ὅλῃ καρδίᾳ μου ἐξεζήτησά σε, μὴ ἀπώσῃ με ἀπὸ τῶν ἐντολῶν σου.
Thy words have I hidden in my heart, that I may not sin against thee.Ἐν τῇ καρδίᾳ μου ἔκρυψα τὰ λόγιά σου, ὅπως ἂν μὴ ἁμάρτω σοι.
Blessed art thou, O Lord: teach me thy justifications.Εὐλογητὸς εἶ Κύριε, δίδαξόν με τὰ δικαιώματά σου.
With my lips I have pronounced all the judgments of thy mouth.Ἐν τοῖς χείλεσί μου ἐξήγγειλα πάντα τὰ κρίματα τοῦ στόματός σου.
I have been delighted in the way of thy testimonies, as in all riches.Ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ τῶν μαρτυρίων σου ἐτέρφθην, ὡς ἐπὶ παντὶ πλούτῳ.
I will meditate on thy commandments: and I will consider thy ways.Ἐν ταῖς ἐντολαῖς σου ἀδολεσχήσω, καὶ κατανοήσω τὰς ὁδούς σου.
I will think of thy justifications: I will not forget thy words.Ἐν τοῖς δικαιώμασί σου μελετήσω, οὐκ ἐπιλήσομαι τῶν λόγων σου.
GIMEL. Give bountifully to thy servant, enliven me: and I shall keep thy words.Ἀνταπόδος τῷ δούλῳ σου, ζήσομαι καὶ φυλάξω τοὺς λόγους σου.
Open thou my eyes: and I will consider the wondrous things of thy law.Ἀποκάλυψον τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς μου, καὶ κατανοήσω τὰ θαυμάσια ἐκ τοῦ νόμου σου.
I am a sojourner on the earth: hide not thy commandments from me.Πάροικος ἐγώ εἰμι ἐν τῇ γῇ, μὴ ἀποκρύψῃς ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ τὰς ἐντολάς σου.
My soul hath coveted to long for thy justifications, at all times.Ἐπεπόθησεν ἡ ψυχή μου τοῦ ἐπιθυμῆσαι τὰ κρίματά σου ἐν παντὶ καιρῷ.
Thou hast rebuked the proud: they are cursed who decline from thy commandments.Ἐπετίμησας ὑπερηφάνοις, ἐπικατάρατοι οἱ ἐκκλίνοντες ἀπὸ τῶν ἐντολῶν σου.
Remove from reproach and contempt: because I have sought after thy testimonies.Περίελε ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ ὄνειδος καὶ ἐξουδένωσιν, ὅτι τὰ μαρτύριά σου ἐξεζήτησα.
For princes sat, and spoke against me: but thy servant was employed in thy justifications.Καὶ γὰρ ἐκάθισαν ἄρχοντες, καὶ κατʼ ἐμοῦ κατελάλουν, ὁ δὲ δοῦλός σου ἠδολέσχει ἐν τοῖς δικαιώμασί σου.
For thy testimonies are my meditation: and thy justifications my counsel.Καὶ γὰρ τὰ μαρτύριά σου μελέτη μου ἐστὶ, καὶ αἱ συμβουλίαι μου τὰ δικαιώματά σου.
DALETH. My soul hath cleaved to the pavement: quicken thou me according to thy word.Ἐκολλήθη τῷ ἐδάφει ἡ ψυχή μου, ζῆσόν με κατὰ τὸ λόγον σου.
I have declared my ways, and thou hast heard me: teach me thy justifications.Τὰς ὁδούς σου ἐξήγγειλα καὶ ἐπήκουσάς μου, δίδαξόν με τὰ δικαιώματά σου.
Make me to understand the way of thy justifications: and I shall be exercised in thy wondrous works.Ὁδὸν δικαιωμάτων σου συνέτισόν με, καὶ ἀδολεσχήσω ἐν τοῖς θαυμασίοις σου.
My soul hath slumbered through heaviness: strengthen thou me in thy words.Ἐνύσταξεν ἡ ψυχή μου ἀπὸ ἀκηδίας, βεβαίωσόν με ἐν τοῖς λόγοις σου.
Remove from me the way of iniquity: and out of thy law have mercy on me.Ὁδὸν ἀδικίας ἀπόστησον ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ, καὶ τῷ νόμῳ σου ἐλέησόν με.
I have chosen the way of truth: thy judgments I have not forgotten.Ὁδὸν ἀληθείας ᾑρετισάμην, καὶ τὰ κρίματά σου οὐκ ἐπελαθόμην.
I have stuck to thy testimonies, O Lord: put me not to shame.Ἐκολλήθην τοῖς μαρτυρίοις σου Κύριε, μή με καταισχύνῃς.
I have run the way of thy commandments, when thou didst enlarge my heart.Ὁδὸν ἐντολῶν σου ἔδραμον, ὅταν ἐπλάτυνας τὴν καρδίαν μου.
HE. Set before me for a law the way of thy justifications, O Lord: and I will always seek after it.Νομοθέτησόν με Κύριε τὴν ὁδὸν τῶν δικαιωμάτων σου, καὶ ἐκζητήσω αὐτὴν διαπαντός.
Give me understanding, and I will search thy law; and I will keep it with my whole heart.Συνέτισόν με, καὶ ἐξερευνήσω τὸν νόμον σου, καὶ φυλάξω αὐτὸν ἐν ὅλῃ καρδίᾳ μου.
Lead me into the path of thy commandments; for this same I have desired.Ὁδήγησόν με ἐν τῇ τρίβῳ τῶν ἐντολῶν σου, ὅτι αὐτὴν ἠθέλησα.
Incline my heart into thy testimonies and not to covetousness.Κλῖνον τὴν καρδίαν μου εἰς τὰ μαρτύριά σου, καὶ μὴ εἰς πλεονεξίαν.
Turn away my eyes that they may not behold vanity: quicken me in thy way.Ἀπόστρεψον τοὺς ὀφθαλμούς μου τοῦ μὴ ἰδεῖν ματαιότητα, ἐν τῇ ὁδῷ σου ζῆσόν με.
Establish thy word to thy servant, in thy fear.Στῆσον τῷ δούλῳ σου τὸ λόγιόν σου εἰς τὸν φόβον σου.
Turn away my reproach, which I have apprehended: for thy judgments are delightful.Περίελε τὸν ὄνειδισμόν μου ὃν ὑπώπτευσα, ὅτι τὰ κρίματά σου χρηστά.
Behold I have longed after thy precepts: quicken me in thy justice.Ἰδοὺ ἐπεθύμησα τὰς ἐντολάς σου, ἐν τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ σου ζῆσόν με.
VAU. Let thy mercy also come upon me, O Lord: thy salvation according to thy word.Καὶ ἔλθοι ἐπʼ ἐμὲ τὸ ἔλεός σου Κύριε, τὸ σωτήριόν σου κατὰ τὸν λόγον σου.
So shall I answer them that reproach me in any thing; that I have trusted in thy words.Καὶ ἀποκριθήσομαι τοῖς ὀνειδίζουσί μοι λόγον, ὅτι ἤλπισα ἐπὶ τοῖς λόγοις σου.
And take not thou the word of truth utterly out of my mouth: for in thy words have I hoped exceedingly.Καὶ μὴ περιέλῃς ἐκ τοῦ στόματός μου λόγον ἀληθείας ἕως σφόδρα, ὅτι ἐπὶ τοῖς κρίμασί σου ἐπήλπισα.
So shall I always keep thy law, for ever and ever.Καὶ φυλάξω τὸν νόμον σου διαπαντὸς, εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα καὶ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα τοῦ αἰῶνος.
And I walked at large: because I have sought after thy commandments.Καὶ ἐπορευόμην ἐν πλατυσμῷ, ὅτι τὰς ἐντολάς σου ἐξεζήτησα.
And I spoke of thy testimonies before kings: and I was not ashamed.Καὶ ἐλάλουν ἐν τοῖς μαρτυρίοις σου ἐναντίον βασιλέων, καὶ οὐκ ᾐσχυνόμην.
I meditated also on thy commandments, which I loved.Καὶ ἐμελέτων ἐν ταῖς ἐντολαῖς σου, αἷς ἠγάπησα σφόδρα.
And I lifted up my hands to thy commandments, which I loved: and I was exercised in thy justifications.Καὶ ᾖρα τὰς χεῖράς μου πρὸς τὰς ἐντολάς σου ἃς ἠγάπησα, καὶ ἠδολέσχουν ἐν τοῖς δικαιώμασί σου.
ZAIN. Be thou mindful of thy word to thy servant, in which thou hast given me hope.Μνήσθητι τῶν λόγων σου τῷ δούλῳ σου ὧν ἐπήλπισάς με.
This hath comforted me in my humiliation: because thy word hath enlivened me.Αὕτη με παρεκάλεσεν ἐν τῇ ταπεινώσει μου, ὅτι τὸ λόγιόν σου ἔζησέ με.
The proud did iniquitously altogether: but I declined not from thy law.Ὑπερήφανοι παρηνόμουν ἕως σφόδρα, ἀπὸ δὲ τοῦ νόμου σου οὐκ ἐξέκλινα.
I remembered, O Lord, thy judgments of old: and I was comforted.Ἐμνήσθην τῶν κριμάτων σου ἀπʼ αἰῶνος Κύριε, καὶ παρεκλήθην.
A fainting hath taken hold of me, because of the wicked that forsake thy law.Ἀθυμία κατέσχε με ἀπὸ ἁμαρτωλῶν τῶν ἐγκαταλιμπανόντων τὸν νόμον σου.
Thy justifications were the subject of my song, in the place of my pilgrimage.Ψαλτὰ ἦσάν μοι τὰ δικαιώματά σου, ἐν τόπῳ παροικίας μου·
In the night I have remembered thy name, O Lord: and have kept thy law.Ἐμνήσθην ἐν νυκτὶ τοῦ ὀνόματός σου Κύριε, καὶ ἐφύλαξα τὸν νόμον σου.
This happened to me: because I sought after thy justifications.Αὕτη ἐγενήθη μοι, ὅτι τὰ δικαιώματά σου ἐξεζήτησα.
HETH. O Lord, my portion, I have said, I would keep the law.Μερίς μου εἶ Κύριε, εἶπα τοῦ φυλάξασθαι τὸν νόμον σου.
I entreated thy face with all my heart: have mercy on me according to thy word.Ἐδεήθην τοῦ προσώπου σου ἐν ὅλῃ καρδίᾳ μου, ἐλέησόν με κατὰ τὸ λόγιόν σου.
I have thought on my ways: and turned my feet unto thy testimonies.Διελογισάμην τὰς ὁδούς σου, καὶ ἐπέστρεψα τοὺς πόδας μου εἰς τὰ μαρτύριά σου.
I am ready, and am not troubled: that I may keep thy commandments.Ἡτοιμάσθην καὶ οὐκ ἐταράχθην, τοῦ φυλάξασθαι τὰς ἐντολάς σου.
The cords of the wicked have encompassed me: but I have not forgotten thy law.Σχοινία ἁμαρτωλῶν περιεπλάκησάν μοι, καὶ τοῦ νόμου σου οὐκ ἐπελαθόμην.
I rose at midnight to give praise to thee; for the judgments of thy justification.Μεσονύκτιον ἐξεγειρόμην, τοῦ ἐξομολογεῖσθαί σοι ἐπὶ τὰ κρίματα τῆς δικαιοσύνης σου.
I am a partaker with all them that fear thee, and that keep thy commandments.Μέτοχος ἐγώ εἰμι πάντων τῶν φοβουμένων σε, καὶ τῶν φυλασσόντων τὰς ἐντολάς σου.
The earth, O Lord, is full of thy mercy: teach me thy justifications.Τοῦ ἐλέους σου Κύριε πλήρης ἡ γῆ, τὰ δικαιώματά σου δίδαξόν με.
TETH. Thou hast done well with thy servant, O Lord, according to thy word.Χρηστότητα ἐποίησας μετὰ τοῦ δούλου σου Κύριε κατὰ τὸν λόγον σου.
Teach me goodness and discipline and knowledge; for I have believed thy commandments.Χρηστότητα καὶ παιδείαν καὶ γνῶσιν δίδαξόν με, ὅτι ταῖς ἐντολαῖς σου ἐπίστευσα.
Before I was humbled I offended; therefore have I kept thy word.Πρὸ τοῦ με ταπεινωθῆναι, ἐγὼ ἐπλημμέλησα, διὰ τοῦτο τὸ λόγιόν σου ἐφύλαξα.
Thou art good; and in thy goodness teach me thy justifications.Χρηστὸς εἶ σὺ Κύριε· καὶ ἐν τῇ χρηστότητί σου δίδαξόν με τὰ δικαιωματά σου.
The iniquity of the proud hath been multiplied over me: but I will seek thy commandments with my whole heart.Ἐπληθύνθη ἐπʼ ἐμὲ ἀδικία ὑπερηφάνων, ἐγὼ δὲ ἐν ὅλῃ καρδίᾳ μου ἐξερευνήσω τὰς ἐντολάς σου.
Their heart is curdled like milk: but I have meditated on thy law.Ἐτυρώθη ὡς γάλα ἡ καρδία αὐτῶν, ἐγὼ δὲ τὸν νόμον σου ἐμελέτησα.
It is good for me that thou hast humbled me, that I may learn thy justifications.Ἀγαθόν μοι ὅτι ἐταπείνωσάς με, ὅπως ἂν μάθω τὰ δικαιώματά σου.
The law of thy mouth is good to me, above thousands of gold and silver.Ἀγαθόν μοι ὁ νόμος τοῦ στόματός σου, ὑπὲρ χιλιάδας χρυσίου καὶ ἀργυρίου.
JOD. Thy hands have made me and formed me: give me understanding, and I will learn thy commandments.Αἱ χεῖρές σου ἔποίησάν με καὶ ἐπλασάν με, συνέτισόν με καὶ μαθήσομαι τὰς ἐντολάς σου.
They that fear thee shall see me, and shall be glad: because I have greatly hoped in thy words.Οἱ φοβούμενοί σε ὄψονταί με καὶ εὐφρανθήσονται, ὅτι εἰς τοὺς λόγους σου ἐπήλπισα.
I know, O Lord, that thy judgments are equity: and in thy truth thou hast humbled me.Ἔγνων Κύριε ὅτι δικαιοσύνη τὰ κρίματά σου, καὶ ἀληθείᾳ ἐταπείνωσάς με.
O! let thy mercy be for my comfort, according to thy word unto thy servant.Γενηθήτω δὴ τὸ ἔλεός σου τοῦ παρακαλέσαι με, κατὰ τὸ λόγιόν σου τῷ δούλῳ σου.
Let thy tender mercies come unto me, and I shall live: for thy law is my meditation.Ἐλθέτωσάν μοι οἱ οἰκτιρμοί σου, καὶ ζήσομαι, ὅτι ὁ νόμος σου μελέτη μου ἐστίν.
Let the proud be ashamed, because they have done unjustly towards me: but I will be employed in thy commandments.Αἰσχυνθήτωσαν ὑπερήφανοι, ὅτι ἀδίκως ἠνόμησαν εἰς ἐμὲ, ἐγὼ δὲ ἀδολεσχήσω ἐν ταῖς ἐντολαῖς σου.
Let them that fear thee turn to me and they that know thy testimonies.Ἐπιστρεψάτωσάν με οἱ φοβούμενοί σε, καὶ οἱ γινώσκοντες τὰ μαρτύριά σου.
Let my heart be undefiled in thy justifications, that I may not be confounded.Γενηθήτω ἡ καρδία μου ἄμωμος ἐν τοῖς δικαιώμασί σου, ὅπως ἂν μὴ αἰσχυνθῶ.
CAPH. My soul hath fainted after thy salvation: and in thy word I have very much hoped.Ἐκλείπει εἰς τὸ σωτήριόν σου ἡ ψυχή μου, εἰς τοὺς λόγους σου ἐπήλπισα.
My eyes have failed for thy word, saying: When wilt thou comfort me?Ἐξέλιπον οἱ ὀφθαλμοί μου εἰς τὸ λόγιόν σου, λέγοντες, πότε παρακαλέσεις με;
For I am become like a bottle in the frost: I have not forgotten thy justifications.Ὅτι ἐγενήθην ὡς ἀσκὸς ἐν πάχνῃ· τὰ δικαιώματά σου οὐκ ἐπελαθόμην.
How many are the days of thy servant: when wilt thou execute judgment on them that persecute me?Πόσαι εἰσὶν αἱ ἡμέραι τοῦ δούλου σου; πότε ποιήσεις μοι ἐκ τῶν καταδιωκόντων με κρίσιν;
The wicked have told me fables: but not as thy law.Διηγήσαντό μοι παράνομοι ἀδολεσχίας, ἀλλʼ οὐχ ὡς ὁ νόμος σου Κύριε.
All thy statutes are truth: they have persecuted me unjustly, do thou help me.Πᾶσαι αἱ ἐντολαί σου ἀλήθεια· ἀδίκως κατεδίωξάν με, βοήθησόν μοι.
They had almost made an end of me upon earth: but I have not forsaken thy commandments.Παρὰ βραχὺ συνετέλεσάν με ἐν τῇ γῇ, ἐγὼ δὲ οὐκ ἐγκατέλιπον τὰς ἐντολάς σου.
Quicken thou me according to thy mercy: and I shall keep the testimonies of thy mouth.Κατὰ τὸ ἔλεός σου ζῆσόν με, καὶ φυλάξω τὰ μαρτύρια τοῦ στόματός σου.
LAMED. For ever, O Lord, thy word standeth firm in heaven.Εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα, Κύριε, ὁ λόγος σου διαμένει ἐν τῷ οὐρανῷ,
Thy truth unto all generations: thou hast founded the earth, and it continueth.εἰς γενεὰν καὶ γενεὰν ἡ ἀλήθειά σου· ἐθεμελίωσας τὴν γῆν καὶ διαμένει.
By thy ordinance the day goeth on: for all things serve thee.Τῇ διατάξει σου διαμένει ἡμέρα, ὅτι τὰ σύμπαντα δοῦλα σά.
Unless thy law had been my meditation, I had then perhaps perished in my abjection.Εἰ μὴ ὅτι ὁ νόμος σου μελέτη μου ἐστὶ, τότε ἂν ἀπωλόμην ἐν τῇ ταπεινώσει μου.
Thy justifications I will never forget: for by them thou hast given me life.Εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα οὐ μὴ ἐπιλάθωμαι τῶν δικαιωμάτων σου, ὅτι ἐν αὐτοῖς ἔζησάς με.
I am thine, save thou me: for I have sought thy justifications.Σός εἰμι ἐγὼ, σῶσόν με, ὅτι τὰ δικαιώματά σου ἐξεζήτησα.
The wicked have waited for me to destroy me: but I have understood thy testimonies.Ἐμὲ ὑπέμειναν ἁμαρτωλοὶ τοῦ ἀπολέσαι με, τὰ μαρτύριά σου συνῆκα.
I have seen an end to all persecution: thy commandment is exceeding broad.Πάσης συντελείας εἶδον πέρας, πλατεία ἡ ἐντολή σου σφόδρα.
MEM. O how have I loved thy law, O Lord! it is my meditation all the day.Ὡς ἠγάπησα τὸν νόμον σου Κύριε; ὅλην τὴν ἡμέραν μελέτη μου ἐστίν.
Through thy commandment, thou hast made me wiser than my enemies: for it is ever with me.Ὑπὲρ τοὺς ἐχθρούς μου ἐσόφισάς με τὴν ἐντολήν σου, ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ἐμή ἐστιν.
I have understood more than all my teachers: because thy testimonies are my meditation.Ὑπὲρ πάντας τοὺς διδάσκοντάς με συνῆκα, ὅτι τὰ μαρτύριά σου μελέτη μου ἐστίν.
I have had understanding above ancients: because I have sought thy commandments.Ὑπὲρ πρεσβυτέρους συνῆκα, ὅτι τὰς ἐντολάς σου ἐξεζήτησα.
I have restrained my feet from every evil way: that I may keep thy words.Ἐκ πάσης ὁδοῦ πονηρᾶς ἐκώλυσα τοὺς πόδας μου, ὅπως ἂν φυλάξω τοὺς λόγους σου.
I have not declined from thy judgments, because thou hast set me a law.Ἀπὸ τῶν κριμάτων σου οὐκ ἐξέκλινα, ὅτι σὺ ἐνομοθέτησάς με.
How sweet are thy words to my palate! more than honey to my mouth.Ὡς γλυκέα τῷ λάρυγγί μου τὰ λόγιά σου, ὑπὲρ μέλι τῷ στόματί μου.
By thy commandments I have had understanding: therefore have I hated every way of iniquity.Ἀπὸ τῶν ἐντολῶν σου συνῆκα, διὰ τοῦτο ἐμίσησα πᾶσαν ὁδὸν ἀδικίας.
NUN. Thy word is a lamp to my feet, and a light to my paths.Λύχνος τοῖς ποσί μου ὁ νόμος σου, καὶ φῶς ταῖς τρίβοις μου.
I have sworn and am determined to keep the judgments of thy justice.Ὤμοσα καὶ ἔστησα τοῦ φυλάξασθαι τὰ κρίματα τῆς δικαιοσύνης σου.
I have been humbled, O Lord, exceedingly: quicken thou me according to thy word.Ἐταπεινώθην ἕως σφόδρα Κύριε, ζῆσόν με κατὰ τὸν λόγον σου.
The free offerings of my mouth make acceptable, O Lord: and teach me thy judgments.Τὰ ἑκούσια τοῦ στόματός μου εὐλόκησον δὴ Κύριε, καὶ τὰ κρίματά σου δίδαξόν με.
My soul is continually in my hands: and I have not forgotten thy law.Ἡ ψυχή μου ἐν ταῖς χερσὶ σου διαπαντὸς, καὶ τὸν νόμον σου οὐκ ἐπελαθόμην.
Sinners have laid a snare for me: but I have not erred from thy precepts.Ἔθεντο ἁμαρτωλοὶ παγίδα μοι, καὶ ἐκ τῶν ἐντολῶν σου οὐκ ἐπλανήθην.
I have purchased thy testimonies for an inheritance for ever: because they are a joy to my heart.Ἐκληρονόμησα τὰ μαρτύριά σου εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα, ὅτι ἀγαλλιάμα τῆς καρδίας μού εἰσιν.
I have inclined my heart to do thy justifications for ever, for the reward.Ἔκλινα τὴν καρδίαν μου τοῦ ποιῆσαι τὰ δικαιώματά σου εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα διʼ ἀντάμειψιν.
SAMECH. I have hated the unjust: and have loved thy law.Παρανόμους ἐμίσησα, τὸν δὲ νόμον σου ἠγάπησα.
Thou art my helper and my protector: and in thy word I have greatly hoped.Βοηθός μου, καὶ ἀντιλήπτωρ μου εἶ σὺ, εἰς τοὺς λόγους σου ἐπήλπισα.
Depart from me, ye malignant: and I will search the commandments of my God.Ἐκκλίνατε ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ οἱ πονηρευόμενοι, καὶ ἐξεραυνήσω τὰς ἐντολὰς τοῦ Θεοῦ μου.
Uphold me according to thy word, and I shall live: and let me not be confounded in my expectation.Ἀντιλαβοῦ μου κατὰ τὸ λόγιόν σου, καὶ ζῆσόν με, καὶ μὴ καταισχύνῃς με ἀπὸ τῆς προσδοκίας μου.
Help me, and I shall be saved: and I will meditate always on thy justifications.Βοήθησόν μοι, καὶ σωθήσομαι, καὶ μελετήσω ἐν τοῖς δικαιώμασί σου διαπαντός.
Thou hast despised all them that fall off from thy judgments; for their thought is unjust.Ἐξουδένωσας πάντας τοὺς ἀποστατοῦντας ἀπὸ τῶν δικαιωμάτων σου, ὅτι ἄδικον τὸ ἐνθύμημα αὐτῶν.
I have accounted all the sinners of the earth prevaricators: therefore have I loved thy testimonies.Παραβαίνοντας ἐλογισάμην πάντας τοὺς ἁμαρτωλοὺς τῆς γῆς, διὰ τοῦτο ἠγάπησα τὰ μαρτύριά σου.
Pierce thou my flesh with thy fear: for I am afraid of thy judgments.Καθήλωσον ἐκ τοῦ φόβου σου τὰς σάρκας μου, ἀπὸ γὰρ τῶν κριμάτων σου ἐφοβήθην.
AIN. I have done judgment and justice: give me not up to them that slander me.Ἐποίησα κρίμα καὶ δικαιοσύνην, μὴ παραδῷς με τοῖς ἀδικοῦσί με.
Uphold thy servant unto good: let not the proud calumniate me.Ἔνδεξαι τὸν δοῦλόν σου εἰς ἀγαθὸν, μὴ συκοφαντησάτωσάν με ὑπερήφανοι.
My eyes have fainted after thy salvation: and for the word of thy justice.Οἱ ὀφθαλμοί μου ἐξέλιπον εἰς τὸ σωτήριόν σου, καὶ εἰς τὸ λόγιον τῆς δικαιοσύνης σου.
Deal with thy servant according to thy mercy: and teach me thy justifications.Ποίησον μετὰ τοῦ δούλου σου κατὰ τὸ ἔλεός σου, καὶ τὰ δικαιώματά σου δίδαξόν με.
I am thy servant: give me understanding that I may know thy testimonies.Δοῦλός σου εἰμὶ ἐγὼ, συνέτισόν με καὶ γνώσομαι τὰ μαρτύριά σου.
It is time, O Lord, to do: they have dissipated thy law.Καιρὸς τοῦ ποιῆσαι τῷ Κυρίῳ, διεσκέδασαν τὸν νόμον σου.
Therefore have I loved thy commandments above gold and the topaz.Διὰ τοῦτο ἠγάπησα τὰς ἐντολάς σου ὑπὲρ χρυσίον καὶ τοπάζιον.
Therefore was I directed to all thy commandments: I have hated all wicked ways.Διὰ τοῦτο πρὸς πάσας τὰς ἐντολάς σου κατωρθούμην, πᾶσαν ὁδὸν ἄδικον ἐμίσησα.
PHE. Thy testimonies are wonderful: therefore my soul hath sought them.Θαυμαστὰ τὰ μαρτύριά σου, διὰ τοῦτο ἐξηρεύνησεν αὐτὰ ἡ ψυχή μου.
The declaration of thy words giveth light: and giveth understanding to little ones.Ἡ δήλωσις τῶν λόγων σου φωτιεῖ καὶ συνετιεῖ νηπίους.
I opened my mouth and panted: because I longed for thy commandments.Τὸ στόμα μου ἤνοιξα, καὶ εἵλκυσα πνεῦμα, ὅτι τὰς ἐντολάς σου ἐπεπόθουν.
Look thou upon me, and have mercy on me, according to the judgment of them that love thy name.Ἐπίβλεψον ἐπʼ ἐμὲ καὶ ἐλέησόν με, κατὰ τὸ κρίμα τῶν ἀγαπώντων τὸ ὄνομά σου.
Direct my steps according to thy word: and let no iniquity have dominion over me.Τὰ διαβήματά μου κατεύθυνον κατὰ τὸ λόγιόν σου, καὶ μὴ κατακυριευσάτω μου πᾶσα ἀνομία.
Redeem me from the calumnies of men: that I may keep thy commandments.Λύτρωσαί με ἀπὸ συκοφαντίας ἀνθρώπων, καὶ φυλάξω τὰς ἐντολάς σου.
Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: and teach me thy justifications.Τὸ πρόσωπόν σου ἐπίφανον ἐπὶ τὸν δοῦλόν σου, καὶ δίδαξόν με τὰ δικαιώματά σου.
My eyes have sent forth springs of water: because they have not kept thy law.Διεξόδους ὑδάτων κατέβησαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοί μου, ἐπεὶ οὐκ ἐφύλαξα τὸν νόμον σου.
SADE. Thou art just, O Lord: and thy judgment is right.Δίκαιος εἶ Κύριε, καὶ εὐθεῖς αἱ κρίσεις σου.
Thou hast commanded justice thy testimonies: and thy truth exceedingly.Ἐνετείλω δικαιοσύνην τὰ μαρτύριά σου, καὶ ἀλήθειαν σφόδρα.
My zeal hath made me pine away: because my enemies forgot thy words.Ἐξέτηξέ με ὁ ζῆλός σου, ὅτι ἐπελάθοντο τῶν λόγων σου οἱ ἐχθροί μου.
Thy word is exceedingly refined: and thy servant hath loved it.Πεπυρωμένον τὸ λόγιόν σου σφόδρα, καὶ ὁ δοῦλός σου ἠγάπησεν αὐτό.
I am very young and despised; but I forgot not thy justifications.Νεώτερος ἐγὼ εἰμι καὶ ἐξουδενωμένος, τὰ δικαιώματά σου οὐκ ἐπελαθόμην.
Thy justice is justice for ever: and thy law is the truth.Ἡ δικαιοσύνη σου δικαιοσύνη εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα, καὶ ὁ νόυος σου ἀλήθεια.
Trouble and anguish have found me: thy commandments are my meditation.Θλίψεις καὶ ἀνάγκαι εὕροσάν με, ἐντολαί σου μελέτη μου.
Thy testimonies are justice for ever: give me understanding, and I shall live.Δικαιοσύνη τὰ μαρτύριά σου εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα· συνέτισόν με, καὶ ζήσομαι.
COPH. I cried with my whole heart, hear me, O Lord: I will seek thy justifications.Ἐκέκραξα ἐν ὅλῃ καρδίᾳ μου, ἐπάκουσόν μου Κύριε, τὰ δικαιώματά σου ἐκζητήσω.
I cried unto thee, save me: that I may keep thy commandments.Ἐκέκραξά σοι, σῶσόν με, καὶ φυλάξω τὰ μαρτύριά σου.
I prevented the dawning of the day, and cried: because in thy words I very much hoped.Προέφθασα ἐν ἀωρίᾳ καὶ ἐκέκραξα, εἰς τοὺς λόγους σου ἐπήλπισα.
My eyes to thee have prevented the morning: that I might meditate on thy words.Προέφθασαν οἱ ὀφθαλμοί μου πρὸς ὄρθρον, τοῦ μελετᾷν τὰ λόγιά σου.
Hear thou my voice, O Lord, according to thy mercy: and quicken me according to thy mercy.Τῆς φωνῆς μου ἄκουσον Κύριε κατὰ τὸ ἔλεός σου, κατὰ τὸ κρίμα σου ζῆσόν με.
They that persecute me have drawn nigh to iniquity; but they are gone far off from the law.Προσήγγισαν οἱ καταδιώκοντές με ἀνομίᾳ, ἀπὸ δὲ τοῦ νόμου σου ἐμακρύνθησαν.
Thou art near, O Lord: and all thy ways are truth.Ἐγγὺς εἶ Κύριε, καὶ πᾶσαι αἱ ὁδοί σου ἀλήθεια.
I have known from the beginning concerning thy testimonies: that thou hast founded them for ever.Κατʼ ἀρχὰς ἔγνων ἐκ τῶν μαρτυρίων σου, ὅτι εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα ἐθεμελίωσας αὐτά.
RES. See my humiliation and deliver me: for I have not forgotten the law.Ἴδε τὴν ταπείνωσίν μου καὶ ἐξελοῦ με, ὅτι τοῦ νόμου σου οὐκ ἐπελαθόμην.
Judge my judgment and redeem me: quicken thou me for thy word’s sake.Κρῖνον τὴν κρίσιν μου καὶ λύτρωσαί με, διὰ τὸν λόγον σου ζῆσόν με.
Salvation is far from sinners; because they have not sought thy justifications.Μακρὰν ἀπὸ ἁμαρτωλῶν σωτηρία, ὅτι τὰ δικαιώματά σου οὐκ ἐξεζήτησαν.
Many, O Lord, are thy mercies: quicken me according to thy judgment.Οἱ οἰκτιρμοί σου πολλοὶ Κύριε, κατὰ τὸ κρίμα σου ζῆσόν με.
Many are they that persecute me, and afflict me; but I have not declined from thy testimonies.Πολλοὶ οἱ ἐκδιώκοντές με καὶ θλίβοντές με· ἐκ τῶν μαρτυρίων σου οὐκ ἐξέκλινα.
I beheld the transgressors, and I pined away; because they kept not thy word.Εἶδον ἀσυνετοῦντας καὶ ἐξετηκόμην, ὅτι τὰ λόγιά σου οὐκ ἐφυλάξαντο.
Behold I have loved thy commandments, O Lord; quicken me thou in thy mercy.Ἴδε ὅτι τὰς ἐντολάς σου ἠγάπησα Κύριε, ἐν τῷ ἐλέει σου ζῆσόν με.
The beginning of thy words is truth: all the judgments of thy justice are for ever.Ἀρχὴ τῶν λόγων σου ἀλήθεια, καὶ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα πάντα τὰ κρίματα τῆς δικαιοσύνης σου.
SIN. Princes have persecuted me without cause: and my heart hath been in awe of thy words.Ἄρχοντες κατεδίωξάν με δωρεὰν, καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν λόγων σου ἐδειλίασεν ἡ καρδία μου.
I will rejoice at thy words, as one that hath found great spoil.Ἀγαλλιάσομαι ἐγὼ ἐπὶ τὰ λόγιά σου, ὡς ὁ εὑρίσκων σκῦλα πολλά.
I have hated and abhorred iniquity; but I have loved thy law.Ἀδικίαν ἐμίσησα καὶ ἐβδελυξάμην, τὸν δὲ νόμον σου ἠγάπησα.
Seven times a day I have given praise to thee, for the judgments of thy justice.Ἑπτάκις τῆς ἡμέρας ᾔνεσά σε ἐπὶ τὰ κρίματα τῆς δικαιοσύνης σου.
Much peace have they that love thy law, and to them there is no stumbling block.Εἰρήνη πολλὴ τοῖς ἀγαπῶσι τὸν νόμον σου, καὶ οὐκ ἔστιν αὐτοῖς σκάνδαλον.
I looked to thy salvation, O Lord: and I loved thy commandments.Προσεδόκων τὸ σωτήριόν σου Κύριε, καὶ τὰς ἐντολάς σου ἠγάπησα.
My soul hath kept thy testimonies: and hath loved them exceedingly.Ἐφύλαξεν ἡ ψυχή μου τὰ μαρτύριά σου, καὶ ἠγάπησεν αὐτὰ σφόδρα.
I have kept thy commandments and thy testimonies: because all my ways are in thy sight.Ἐφύλαξα τὰς ἐντολάς σου καὶ τὰ μαρτύριά σου, ὅτι πᾶσαι αἱ ὁδοί μου ἐναντίον σου Κύριε.
TAU. Let my supplication, O Lord, come near in thy sight: give me understanding according to thy word.Ἐγγυσάτω ἡ δέησίς μου ἐνώπιόν σου Κύριε, κατὰ τὸ λόγιόν σου συνέτισόν με.
Let my request come in before thee; deliver thou me according to thy word.Εἰσέλθοι τὸ ἀξίωμά μου ἐνώπιόν σου Κύριε, κατὰ τὸ λόγιόν σου ῥῦσαί με.
My lips shall utter a hymn, when thou shalt teach me thy justifications.Ἐξερεύξαιντο τὰ χείλη μου ὕμνον, ὅταν διδάξῃς με τὰ δικαιώματά σου.
My tongue shall pronounce thy word: because all thy commandments are justice.Φθέγξαιτο ἡ γλῶσσά μου τὰ λόγιά σου, ὅτι πᾶσαι αἱ ἐντολαί σου δικαιοσύνη.
Let thy hand be with me to save me; for I have chosen thy precepts.Γενέσθω ἡ χείρ σου τοῦ σῶσαί με, ὅτι τὰς ἐντολάς σου ᾑρετισάμην.
I have longed for thy salvation, O Lord; and thy law is my meditation.Ἐπεπόθησα τὸ σωτήριόν σου Κύριε, καὶ ὁ νόμος σου μελέτη μου ἐστί.
My soul shall live and shall praise thee: and thy judgments shall help me.Ζήσεται ἡ ψυχή μου καὶ αἰνέσει σε, καὶ τὰ κρίματά σου βοηθήσει μοι.
I have gone astray like a sheep that is lost: seek thy servant, because I have not forgotten thy commandments.Ἐπλανήθην ὡς πρόβατον ἀπολωλὸς, ζήτησον τὸν δοῦλόν σου, ὅτι τὰς ἐντολάς σου οὐκ ἐπελαθόμην.
