Unto the end, understanding for the sons of Core.In finem. Intellectus filiis Core.Εἰς τὸ τέλος, εἰς σύνεσιν τοῖς υἱοῖς Κορέ.
As the hart panteth after the fountains of water; so my soul panteth after thee, O God.Quemadmodum desiderat cervus ad fontes aquarum, ita desiderat anima mea ad te, Deus.Ὃν τρόπον ἐπιποθεῖ ἡ ἔλαφος ἐπὶ τὰς πηγὰς τῶν ὑδάτων, οὕτως ἐπιποθεῖ ἡ ψυχή μου πρὸς σὲ ὁ Θεός.
My soul hath thirsted after the strong living God; when shall I come and appear before the face of God?Sitivit anima mea ad Deum fortem, vivum; quando veniam, et apparebo ante faciem Dei?Ἐδίψησεν ἡ ψυχή μου πρὸς τὸν Θεὸν τὸν ζῶντα· πότε ἥξω καὶ ὀφθήσομαι τῷ προσώπῳ τοῦ Θεοῦ;
My tears have been any bread day and night, whilst it is said to me daily: Where is thy God?Fuerunt mihi lacrimae meae panes die ac nocte, dum dicitur mihi quotidie: Ubi est Deus tuus?Ἐγενήθη τὰ δάκρυά μου ἐμοὶ ἄρτος ἡμέρας καὶ νυκτὸς, ἐν τῷ λέγεσθαί μοι καθʼ ἑκάστην ἡμέραν, ποῦ ἐστιν ὁ Θεός σου;
These things I remembered, and poured out my soul in me: for I shall go over into the place of the wonderful tabernacle, even to the house of God: With the voice of joy and praise; the noise of one feasting.Haec recordatus sum, et effudi in me animam meam, quoniam transibo in locum tabernaculi admirabilis, usque ad domum Dei, in voce exsultationis et confessionis, sonus epulantis.Ταῦτα ἐμνήσθην, καὶ ἐξέχεα ἐπʼ ἐμὲ τὴν ψυχήν μου, ὅτι διελεύσομαι ἐν τόπῳ σκηνῆς θαυμαστῆς ἕως τοῦ οἴκου τοῦ Θεοῦ· ἐν φωνῇ ἀγαλλιάσεως καὶ ἐξομολογήσεως ἤχου ἑορταζόντων.
Why art thou sad, O my soul? and why dost thou trouble me? Hope in God, for I will still give praise to him: the salvation of my countenance,Quare tristis es, anima mea? et quare conturbas me?
And my God. My soul is troubled within myself: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan and Hermoniim, from the little hill.et Deus meus. Ad meipsum anima mea conturbata est: propterea memor ero tui de terra Iordanis et Hermoniim a monte modico.Ὁ Θεός μου· πρὸς ἐμαυτὸν ἡ ψυχή μου ἐταράχθη, διὰ τοῦτο μνησθήσομαί σου ἐκ γῆς Ἰορδάνου, καὶ Ἐρμωνιεὶμ ἀπὸ ὄρους μικροῦ.
Deep calleth on deep, at the noise of thy flood-gates. All thy heights and thy billows have passed over me.Abyssus abyssum invocat, in voce cataractarum tuarum; omnia excelsa tua, et fluctus tui super me transierunt.Ἄβυσσος ἄβυσσον ἐπικαλεῖται εἰς φωνὴν τῶν καταῤῥακτῶν σου· πάντες οἱ μετεωρισμοί σου, καὶ τὰ κύματά σου ἐπʼ ἐμὲ διῆλθον.
In the daytime the Lord hath commanded his mercy; and a canticle to him in the night. With me is prayer to the God of my life.In die mandavit Dominus misericordiam suam, et nocte canticum eius; apud me oratio Deo vitae meae.Ἡμέρας ἐντελεῖται Κύριος τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ, καὶ νυκτὸς δηλώσει· παρʼ ἐμοὶ προσευχὴ τῷ Θεῷ τῆς ζωῆς μου,
I will say to God: Thou art my support. Why hast thou forgotten me? and why go I mourning, whilst my enemy afflicteth me?Dicam Deo: Susceptor meus es; quare oblitus es mei? et quare contristatus incedo, dum affligit me inimicus?ἐρῶ τῷ Θεῷ, ἀντιλήπτωρ μου εἶ, διατί μου ἐπελάθου; ἱνατί σκυθρωπάζων πορεύομαι ἐν τῷ ἐκθλίβειν τὸν ἐχθρόν μου;
Whilst my bones are broken, my enemies who trouble me have reproached me; Whilst they say to me day be day: Where is thy God?Dum confringuntur ossa mea, exprobraverunt mihi qui tribulant me inimici mei, dum dicunt mihi per singulos dies: Ubi est Deus tuus?Ἐν τῷ καταθλᾶσθαι τὰ ὀστᾶ μου, ὠνείδισάν με οἱ θλίβοντές με· ἐν τῷ λέγειν αὐτούς μοι καθʼ ἑκάστην ἡμέραν, ποῦ ἐστιν ὁ Θεός σου;
Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why dost thou disquiet me? Hope thou in God, for I will still give praise to him: the salvation of my countenance, and my God.Quare tristis es, anima mea? et quare conturbas me? Spera in Deo, quoniam adhuc confitebor illi, salutare vultus mei, et Deus meus.Ἱνατί περίλυπος εἶ ἡ ψυχή μου, καὶ ἱνατί συνταράσσεις με; ἔλπισον ἐπὶ τὸν Θεὸν, ὅτι ἐξομολογήσομαι αὐτῷ, ἡ σωτηρία τοῦ προσώπου μου, καὶ ὁ Θεός μου.

Jesus laments over Jerusalem, which kills the prophets

The same day, there came some of the Pharisees, saying to him: Depart, and get thee hence, for Herod hath a mind to kill thee. And he said to them: Go and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and do cures today and…
