Upon the rivers of Babylon, there we sat and wept: when we remembered Sion:Psalmus David, Ieremiae.
On the willows in the midst thereof we hung up our instruments.In salicibus in medio eius suspendimus organa nostra:Ἐπὶ ταῖς ἰτέαις ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς ἐκρεμάσαμεν τὰ ὄργανα ἡμῶν.
For there they that led us into captivity required of us the words of songs. And they that carried us away, said: Sing ye to us a hymn of the songs of Sion.quia illic interrogaverunt nos, qui captivos duxerunt nos, verba cantionum; et qui abduxerunt nos: Hymnum cantate nobis de canticis Sion.Ὅτι ἐκεῖ ἐπηρώτησαν ἡμᾶς οἱ αἰχμαλωτεύσαντες ἡμᾶς, λόγους ᾠδῶν, καὶ οἱ ἀπαγαγόντες ἡμᾶς, ὕμνον· ᾄσατε ἡμῖν ἐκ τῶν ᾠδῶν Σιών.
How shall we sing the song of the Lord in a strange land?Quomodo cantabimus canticum Domini in terra aliena?Πῶς ᾄσωμεν τὴν ᾠδὴν Κυρίου ἐπὶ γῆς ἀλλοτρίας;
If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, let my right hand be forgotten.Si oblitus fuero tui, Ierusalem, oblivioni detur dextera mea.Ἐὰν ἐπιλάθωμαί σου Ἱερουσαλήμ, ἐπιλησθείη ἡ δεξιά μου.
Let my tongue cleave to my jaws, if I do not remember thee: If I make not Jerusalem the beginning of my joy.Adhaereat lingua mea faucibus meis, si non meminero tui; si non proposuero Ierusalem in principio laetitiae meae.Κολληθείη ἡ γλῶσσά μου τῷ λάρυγγί μου, ἐὰν μή σου μνησθῷ· ἐὰν μὴ προανατάξωμαι τὴν Ἱερουσαλὴμ ἐν ἀρχῇ τῆς εὐφροσύνης μου.
Remember, O Lord, the children of Edom, in the day of Jerusalem: Who say: Rase it, rase it, even to the foundation thereof.Memor esto, Domine, filiorum Edom, in die Ierusalem: qui dicunt: Exinanite, exinanite usque ad fundamentum in ea.Μνήσθητι, Κύριε, τῶν υἱῶν Ἐδὼμ τὴν ἡμέραν Ἱερουσαλήμ· τῶν λεγόντων, ἐκκενοῦτε ἐκκενοῦτε, ἕως τῶν θεμελίων αὐτῇς.
O daughter of Babylon, miserable: blessed shall he be who shall repay thee thy payment which thou hast paid us.Filia Babylonis misera! beatus qui retribuet tibi retributionem tuam quam retribuisti nobis.Θυγάτηρ Βαβυλῶνος ἡ ταλαίπωρος, μακάριος ὃς ἀνταποδώσει σοι τὸ ἀνταπόδομά σου, ὃ ἀνταπέδωκας ἡμῖν.
Blessed be he that shall take and dash thy little ones against the rock.Beatus qui tenebit, et allidet parvulos tuos ad petram.Μακάριος ὃς κρατήσει καὶ ἐδαφιεῖ τὰ νήπιά σου πρὸς τὴν πέτραν.

Jesus laments over Jerusalem, which kills the prophets

The same day, there came some of the Pharisees, saying to him: Depart, and get thee hence, for Herod hath a mind to kill thee. And he said to them: Go and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and do cures today and…
