Unto the end, a psalm for David, in an ecstasy. In finem. Psalmus David, pro extasi.Εἰς τὸ τέλος, ψαλμὸς τῷ Δαυὶδ, ἐκστάσεως.
In thee, O Lord, have I hoped, let me never be confounded: deliver me in thy justice. In te, Domine, speravi; non confundar in aeternum: in iustitia tua libera me.Ἐπὶ σοὶ Κύριε ἤλπισα, μὴ καταισχυνθείην εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα, ἐν τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ σου ῥῦσαί με καὶ ἐξελοῦ με.
Bow down thy ear to me: make haste to deliver me. Be thou unto me a God, a protector, and a house of refuge, to save me.Inclina ad me aurem tuam; accelera ut eruas me. Esto mihi in Deum protectorem, et in domum refugii, ut salvum me facias:Κλῖνον πρὸς μὲ τὸ οὖς σου, τὰχυνον τοῦ ἐξελέσθαι με γενοῦ μοι εἰς Θεὸν ὑπερασπιστὴν καὶ εἰς οἶκον καταφυγῆς τοῦ σῶσαί με.
For thou art my strength and my refuge; and for thy name’s sake thou wilt lead me, and nourish me.quoniam fortitudo mea et refugium meum es tu; et propter nomen tuum deduces me et enutries me.Ὅτι κραταίωμά μου καὶ καταφυγή μου εἶ σὺ, καὶ ἕνεκεν τοῦ ὀνόματός σου ὁδηγήσεις με, καὶ διαθρέψεις με.
Thou wilt bring me out of this snare, which they have hidden for me: for thou art my protector.Educes me de laqueo hoc quem absconderunt mihi, quoniam tu es protector meus.Ἐξάξεις με ἐκ παγίδος ταύτης ἧς ἔκρυψάν μοι, ὅτι σὺ εἶ ὁ ὑπερασπιστής μου, Κύριε.
Into thy hands I commend my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O Lord, the God of truth. In manus tuas commendo spiritum meum; redemisti me, Domine Deus veritatis.Εἰς χεῖράς σου παραθήσομαι τὸ πνεῦμά μου, ἐλυτρώσω με Κύριε ὁ Θεὸς τῆς ἀληθέιας.
Thou hast hated them that regard vanities, to no purpose. But I have hoped in the Lord:Odisti observantes vanitates supervacue; ego autem in Domino speravi.Ἐμίσησας τοὺς διαφυλάσσοντας ματαιότητας διακενῆς· ἐγὼ δὲ ἐπὶ τῷ Κυρίῳ ἤλπισα.
I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy. For thou best regarded my humility, thou hast saved my soul out of distresses.Exsultabo, et laetabor in misericordia tua, quoniam respexisti humilitatem meam; salvasti de necessitatibus animam meam.Ἀγαλλιάσομαι καὶ εὐφρανθήσομαι ἐπὶ τῷ ἐλέει σου· ὅτι ἐπεῖδες τὴν ταπείνωσίν μου, ἔσωσας ἐκ τῶν ἀναγκῶν τὴν ψυχήν μου.
And thou hast not shut me up in the hands of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a spacious place.Nec conclusisti me in manibus inimici: statuisti in loco spatioso pedes meos.Καὶ οὐ συνέκλεισάς με εἰς χεῖρας ἐχθροῦ, ἔστησας ἐν εὐρυχώρῳ τοὺς πόδας μου.
Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am afflicted: my eye is troubled with wrath, my soul, and my belly:Miserere mei, Domine, quoniam tribulor; conturbatus est in ira oculus meus, anima mea, et venter meus.Ἐλέησόν με, Κύριε, ὅτι θλίβομαι· ἐταράχθη ἐν θυμῷ ὁ ὀφθαλμός μου, ἡ ψυχή μου, καὶ ἡ γαστήρ μου.
For my life is wasted with grief: and my years in sighs. My strength is weakened through poverty and my bones are disturbed.Quoniam defecit in dolore vita mea, et anni mei in gemitibus. Infirmata est in paupertate virtus mea, et ossa mea conturbata sunt.Ὅτι ἐξέλιπεν ἐν ὀδύνῃ ἡ ζωή μου, καὶ τὰ ἔτη μου ἐν στεναγμοῖς· ἠσθένησεν ἐν πτωχείᾳ ἡ ἰσχύς μου, καὶ τὰ ὀστᾶ μου ἐταράχθησαν.
I am become a reproach among all my enemies, and very much to my neighbours; and a fear to my acquaintance. They that saw me without fled from me.Super omnes inimicos meos factus sum opprobrium, et vicinis meis valde, et timor notis meis; qui videbant me foras fugerunt a me.Παρὰ πάντας τοὺς ἐχθρούς μου ἐγενήθην ὄνειδος, καὶ τοῖς γείτοσί μου σφόδρα, καὶ φόβος τοῖς γνωστοῖς μου· οἱ θεωροῦντές με ἔξω ἔφυγον ἀπʼ ἐμοῦ·
I am forgotten as one dead from the heart. I am become as a vessel that is destroyed.Oblivioni datus sum, tamquam mortuus a corde; factus sum tamquam vas perditum:Ἐπελήσθην ὡσεὶ νεκρὸς ἀπὸ καρδίας· ἐγενήθην ὡσεὶ σκεῦος ἀπολωλὸς,
For I have heard the blame of many that dwell round about. While they assembled together against me, they consulted to take away my life.quoniam audivi vituperationem multorum commorantium in circuitu. In eo dum convenirent simul adversum me, accipere animam meam consiliati sunt.ὅτι ἤκουσα ψόγον πολλῶν παροικούντων κυκλόθεν· ἐν τῷ συναχθῆναι αὐτοὺς ἅμα ἐπʼ ἐμὲ, τοῦ λαβεῖν τὴν ψυχήν μου ἐβουλεύσαντο.
But I have put my trust in thee, O Lord: I said: Thou art my God.Ego autem in te speravi, Domine; dixi: Deus meus es tu;Ἐγὼ δὲ ἐπὶ σοὶ ἤλπισα, Κύριε· εἶπα, σὺ εἶ ὁ Θεός μου,
My lots are in thy hands. Deliver me out of the hands of my enemies; and from them that persecute me.in manibus tuis sortes meae: eripe me de manu inimicorum meorum, et a persequentibus me.ἐν ταῖς χερσί σου οἱ κλῆροί μου· ῥῦσαί με ἐκ χειρὸς ἐχθρῶν μου, καὶ ἐκ τῶν καταδιωκόντων με.
Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; save me in thy mercy.Illustra faciem tuam super servum tuum; salvum me fac in misericordia tua.Ἐπίφανον τὸ πρόσωπόν σου ἐπὶ τὸν δοῦλόν σου, σῶσόν με ἐν τῷ ἐλέει σου.
Let me not be confounded, O Lord, for I have called upon thee. Let the wicked be ashamed, and be brought down to hell.Domine, non confundar, quoniam invocavi te.
Let deceitful lips be made dumb. Which speak iniquity against the just, with pride and abuse.muta fiant labia dolosa, quae loquuntur adversus iustum iniquitatem, in superbia, et in abusione.Ἄλαλα γενηθήτω τὰ χείλη τὰ δόλια, τὰ λαλοῦντα κατὰ τοῦ δικαίου ἀνομίαν ἐν ὑπερηφανίᾳ καὶ ἐξουδενώσει.
O how great is the multitude of thy sweetness, O Lord, which thou hast hidden for them that fear thee! Which thou hast wrought for them that hope in thee, in the sight of the sons of men.Quam magna multitudo dulcedinis tuae, Domine, quam abscondisti timentibus te; perfecisti eis qui sperant in te in conspectu filiorum hominum!Ὡς πολὺ τὸ πλῆθος τῆς χρηστότητός σου, Κύριε, ἧς ἔκρυψας τοῖς φοβουμένοις σε; ἐξειργάσω τοῖς ἐλπίζουσιν ἐπὶ σὲ, ἐναντίον τῶν υἱῶν τῶν ἀνθρώπων.
Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy face, from the disturbance of men. Thou shalt protect them in thy tabernacle from the contradiction of tongues.Abscondes eos in abscondito faciei tuae a conturbatione hominum; proteges eos in tabernaculo tuo, a contradictione linguarum.Κατακρύψεις αὐτοὺς ἐν ἀποκρύφῳ τοῦ προσώπου σου ἀπὸ ταραχῆς ἀνθρώπων, σκεπάσεις αὐτοὺς ἐν σκηνῇ ἀπὸ ἀντιλογίας γλωσσῶν.
Blessed be the Lord, for he hath shewn his wonderful mercy to me in a fortified city.Benedictus Dominus, quoniam mirificavit misericordiam suam mihi in civitate munita.Εὐλογητὸς Κύριος, ὅτι ἐθαυμάστωσε τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ ἐν πόλει περιοχῆς.
But I said in the excess of my mind: I am cast away from before thy eyes. Therefore thou hast heard the voice of my prayer, when I cried to thee.Ego autem dixi in excessu mentis meae: Proiectus sum a facie oculorum tuorum: ideo exaudisti vocem orationis meae, dum clamarem ad te.Ἐγὼ δὲ εἶπα ἐν τῇ ἐκστάσει μου, ἀπέῤῥιμμαι ἀπὸ προσώπου τῶν ὀφθαλμῶν σου· διὰ τοῦτο εἰσήκουσας, Κύριε, τῆς φωνῆς τῆς δεήσεώς μου ἐν τῷ κεκραγέναι με πρὸς σέ.
O love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord will require truth, and will repay them abundantly that act proudly.
Do ye manfully, and let your heart be strengthened, all ye that hope in the Lord.Viriliter agite, et confortetur cor vestrum, omnes qui speratis in Domino.Ἀνδρίζεσθε, καὶ κραταιούσθω ἡ καρδία ὑμῶν, πάντες οἱ ἐλπίζοντες ἐπὶ Κύριον.

Jesus laments over Jerusalem, which kills the prophets

The same day, there came some of the Pharisees, saying to him: Depart, and get thee hence, for Herod hath a mind to kill thee. And he said to them: Go and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and do cures today and…
