2 Samuel 9: Douay-Rheims and Septuagint (Sixtine edition, 1587)
Douay-RheimsSeptuagint (Sixtine edition, 1587)
1And David said: Is there any one, think you, left of the house of Saul, that I may shew kindness to him for Jonathan’s sake?Καὶ εἶπε Δαυὶδ, εἰ ἔστιν ἔτι ὑπολελειμμένος ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ Σαοὺλ, καὶ ποιήσω μετʼ αὐτοῦ ἔλεος ἕνεκεν Ἰωνάθαν;
2Now there was of the house of Saul, a servant named Siba: and when the king had called him to him, he said to him: Art thou Siba? And he answered: I am Siba thy servant.Καὶ ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου Σαοὺλ ἦν παῖς, καὶ ὄνομα αὐτῷ Σιβά· καὶ καλοῦσιν αὐτὸν πρὸς Δαυίδ· καὶ εἶπε πρὸς αὐτὸν ὁ βασιλεὺς, σὺ εἶ Σιβά; καὶ εἶπεν, ἐγὼ δοῦλος σός.
3And the king said: Is there any one left of the house of Saul, that I may shew the mercy of God unto him? And Siba said to the king: There is a son of Jonathan left, who is lame of his feet.Καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς, εἰ ὑπολέλειπται ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου Σαοὺλ ἔτι ἀνὴρ, καὶ ποιήσω μετʼ αὐτοῦ ἔλεος Θεοῦ; καὶ εἶπε Σιβὰ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα, ἔτι ἐστὶν υἱὸς τῷ Ἰωνάθαν πεπληγὼς τοὺς πόδας.
4Where is he? said he. And Siba said to the king: Behold he is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel in Lodabar.Καὶ εἶπεν ὁ βασιλεὺς, ποῦ οὗτος; καὶ εἶπε Σιβὰ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα, ἰδοὺ ἐν οἴκῳ Μαχεὶρ υἱοῦ Ἀμιὴλ ἐκ τῆς Λοδάβαρ.
5Then king David sent, and brought him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel of Lodabar.Καὶ ἀπέστειλεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Δαυὶδ, καὶ ἔλαβεν αὐτὸν ἐκ τοῦ οἴκου Μαχὶρ υἱοῦ Ἀμιὴλ ἐκ τῆς Λαδάβαρ.
6And when Miphiboseth the son of Jonathan the son of Saul was come to David, he fell on his face and worshipped. And David said: Miphiboseth? And he answered: Behold thy servant.Καὶ παραγίνεται Μεμφιβοσθὲ υἱὸς Ἰωνάθαν υἱοῦ Σαοὺλ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα Δαυίδ, καὶ ἔπεσεν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ, καὶ προσεκύνησεν αὐτῷ· καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Δαυίδ, Μεμφιβοσθέ; καὶ εἶπεν, ἰδοὺ ὁ δοῦλός σου.
7And David said to him: Fear not, for I will surely shew thee mercy for Jonathan thy father’s sake, and I will restore the lands of Saul thy father, and thou shalt eat bread at my table always.Καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ Δαυίδ, μὴ φοβοῦ, ὅτι ποιῶν ποιήσω μετὰ σοῦ ἔλεος διὰ Ἰωνάθαν τὸν πατέρα σου, καὶ ἀποκαταστήσω σοι πάντα ἀγρὸν Σαοὺλ πατρὸς τοῦ πατρός σου, καὶ σὺ φαγῃ ἄρτον ἐπὶ τῆς τραπέζης μου διαπαντός.
8He bowed down to him, and said: Who am I thy servant, that thou shouldst look upon such a dead dog as I am?Καὶ προσεκύνησε Μεμφιβοσθὲ, καὶ εἶπε, τίς εἰμι ὁ δοῦλός σου, ὅτι ἐπέβλεψας ἐπὶ τὸν κύνα τὸν τεθνηκότα τὸν ὅμοιον ἐμοί;
9Then the king called Siba the servant of Saul, and said to him: All that belonged to Saul, and all his house, I have given to thy master’s son.Καὶ ἐκάλεσεν ὁ βασιλεὺς Σιβὰ τὸ παιδάριον Σαοὺλ, καὶ εἶπε πρὸς αὐτὸν, πάντα ὅσα ἐστὶ τῷ Σαοὺλ καὶ ὅλῳ τῷ οἴκῳ αὐτοῦ δέδωκα τῷ υἱῷ τοῦ κυρίου σου.
10Thou therefore and thy sons and thy servants shall till the land for him: and thou shalt bring in food for thy master’s son, that he may be maintained: and Miphiboseth the son of thy master shall always eat bread at my table. And Siba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.Καὶ ἐργᾷ αὐτῷ τὴν γῆν σὺ, καὶ οἱ υἱοί σου, καὶ οἱ δοῦλοί σου, καὶ εἰσοίσεις τῷ υἱῷ τοῦ κυρίου σου ἄρτους, καὶ ἔδεται ἄρτους· καὶ Μεμφιβοσθὲ υἱὸς τοῦ κυρίου σου φάγεται διαπαντὸς ἄρτον ἐπὶ τῆς τραπέζης μου· καὶ τῷ Σιβᾷ ἦσαν πεντεκαίδεκα υἱοὶ, καὶ εἴκοσι δοῦλοι.
11And Siba said to the king: As thou my lord the king hast commanded thy servant, so will thy servant do: and Miphiboseth shall eat at my table, as one of the sons of the king.Καὶ εἶπε Σιβὰ πρὸς τὸν βασιλέα, κατὰ πάντα ὅσα ἐντέταλται ὁ κύριός μου ὁ βασιλεὺς τῷ δούλῳ αὐτοῦ, οὕτως ποιήσει ὁ δοῦλός σου· καὶ Μεμφιβοσθὲ ἤσθιεν ἐπὶ τῆς τραπέζης Δαυὶδ καθὼς εἷς τῶν υἱῶν αὐτοῦ τοῦ βασιλέως.
12And Miphiboseth had a young son whose name was Micha: and all the kindred of the house of Siba served Miphiboseth.Καὶ τῷ Μεμφιβοσθὲ υἱὸς μικρὸς ἦν, καὶ ὄνομα αὐτῷ Μιχά· καὶ πᾶσα ἡ κατοίκησις τοῦ οἴκου Σιβὰ δοῦλοι τοῦ Μεμφιβοσθέ.
13But Miphiboseth dwelt in Jerusalem: because he ate always of the king’s table: and he was lame of both feet.Καὶ Μεμφιβοσθὲ κατῴκει ἐν Ἱερουσαλὴμ, ὅτι ἐπὶ τῆς τραπέζης τοῦ βασιλέως αὐτὸς διαπαντὸς ἤσθιε, καὶ αὐτὸς ἦν χωλὸς ἀμφοτέροις τοῖς ποσὶν αὐτοῦ.
