2 Chronicles 6: Douay-Rheims, Vulgata Clementina and Septuagint (Sixtine edition, 1587)
Douay-RheimsVulgata ClementinaSeptuagint (Sixtine edition, 1587)
1Then Solomon said: The Lord promised that he would dwell in a cloud.Tunc Salomon ait: Dominus pollicitus est ut habitaret in caligine:Τότε εἰπε Σαλωμὼν, Κύριος εἶπε τοῦ κατασκηνῶσαι ἐν γνόφῳ,
2But I have built a house to his name, that he might dwell there for ever.ego autem aedificavi domum nomini eius, ut habitaret ibi in perpetuum.καὶ ἐγὼ ᾠκοδόμηκα οἶκον τῷ ὀνόματί σου ἅγιόν σοι καὶ ἕτοιμον τοῦ κατασκηνῶσαι εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας.
3And the king turned his face, and blessed all the multitude of Israel (for all the multitude stood attentive) and he said:Et convertit rex faciem suam, et benedixit universae multitudini Israël (nam omnis turba stabat intenta), et ait:Καὶ ἐπέστρεψεν ὁ βασιλεὺς τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ, καὶ εὐλόγησε τὴν πᾶσαν ἐκκλησίαν Ἰσραὴλ, καὶ πᾶσα ἡ ἐκκλησία Ἰσραὴλ παρειστήκει,
4Blessed be the Lord the God of Israel, who hath accomplished in deed that which he spoke to David my father, saying:Benedictus Dominus Deus Israël, qui quod locutus est David patri meo, opere complevit, dicens:καὶ εἶπεν, εὐλογητὸς Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς Ἰσραὴλ, ὡς ἐλάλησεν ἐν στόματι αὐτοῦ πρὸς Δαυὶδ τὸν πατέρα μου, καὶ ἐν χερσὶν αὐτοῦ ἐπλήρωσε, λέγων,
5From the day that I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel, for a house to be built in it to my name: neither chose I any other man, to be the ruler of my people Israel.A die qua eduxi populum meum de terra Aegypti, non elegi civitatem de cunctis tribubus Israël ut aedificaretur in ea domus nomini meo, neque elegi quemquam alium virum ut esset dux in populo Israël:ἀπὸ τῆς ἡμέρας ἧς ἀνήγαγον τὸν λαόν μου ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου, οὐκ ἐξελεξάμην ἐν πόλει ἀπὸ πασῶν φυλῶν Ἰσραὴλ, τοῦ οἰκοδομῆσαι οἶκον τοῦ εἶναι τὸ ὄνομά μου ἐκεῖ, καὶ οὐκ ἐξελεξάμην ἐν ἀνδρὶ τοῦ εἶναι εἰς ἡγούμενον ἐπὶ τὸν λαόν μου Ἰσραήλ·
6But I chose Jerusalem, that my name might be there: and I chose David to set him over my people Israel.sed elegi Ierusalem ut sit nomen meum in ea, et elegi David ut constituerem eum super populum meum Israël.Καὶ ἐξελεξάμην τὴν Ἱερουσαλὴμ γενέσθαι τὸ ὄνομά μου ἐκεῖ, καὶ ἐξελεξάμην ἐν Δαυὶδ τοῦ εἶναι ἐπὶ τὸν λαόν μου Ἰσραήλ.
7And whereas David my father had a mind to build a house to the name of the Lord the God of Israel,Cumque fuisset voluntatis David patris mei ut aedificaret domum nomini Domini Dei Israël,Καὶ ἐγένετο ἐπὶ καρδίαν Δαυὶδ τοῦ πατρός μου, τοῦ οἰκοδομῆσαι οἶκον τῷ ὀνόματι Κυρίου Θεοῦ Ἰσραήλ.
8The Lord said to him: Forasmuch as it was thy will to build a house to my name, thou hast done well indeed in having such a will:dixit Dominus ad eum: Quia haec fuit voluntas tua, ut aedificares domum nomini meo, bene quidem fecisti huiuscemodi habere voluntatem:Καὶ εἶπε Κύριος πρὸς Δαυὶδ πατέρα μου, διότι ἐγένετο ἐπὶ καρδίαν σου τοῦ οἰκοδομῆσαι οἶκον τῷ ὀνόματί μου, καλῶς ἐποίησας, ὅτι ἐγένετο ἐπὶ τὴν καρδίαν σου.
9But thou shalt not build the house, but thy son, who shall come out of thy loins, he shall build a house to my name.sed non tu aedificabis domum: verum filius tuus, qui egredietur de lumbis tuis, ipse aedificabit domum nomini meo.Πλὴν σὺ οὐκ οἰκοδομήσεις τὸν οἶκον, ὅτι ὁ υἱός σου ὃς ἐξελεύσεται ἐκ τῆς ὀσφύος σου, οὗτος οἰκοδομήσει τὸν οἶκον τῷ ὀνόματί μου.
10The Lord therefore hath accomplished his word which he spoke: and I am risen up in the place of David my father, and sit upon the throne of Israel, as the Lord promised: and have built a house to the name of the Lord God of Israel.
11And I have put in it the ark, wherein is the covenant of the Lord, which he made with the children of Israel.Et posui in ea arcam in qua est pactum Domini quod pepigit cum filiis Israël.καὶ ἔθηκα ἐκεῖ τὴν κιβωτὸν ἐν ᾗ ἐκεῖ διαθήκη Κυρίου, ἣν διέθετο τῷ Ἰσραήλ.
12And he stood before the altar of the I Lord, in presence of all the multitude of Israel, and stretched forth his hands.
13For Solomon had made a brazen scaffold, and had set it in the midst of the temple, which was five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high: and he stood upon it: then kneeling down in the presence of all the multitude of Israel, and lifting up his hands towards heaven,Siquidem fecerat Salomon basim aeneam, et posuerat eam in medio basilicae, habentem quinque cubitos longitudinis, et quinque cubitos latitudinis, et tres cubitos altitudinis: stetitque super eam, et deinceps flexis genibus contra universam multitudinem Israël, et palmis in caelum levatis,Ὅτι ἐποίησε Σαλωμὼν βάσιν χαλκῆν, καὶ ἔθηκεν αὐτὴν ἐν μέσῳ τῆς αὐλῆς τοῦ ἱεροῦ, πέντε πήχεων τὸ μῆκος αὐτῆς, καὶ πέντε πήχεων τὸ εὖρος αὐτῆς, καὶ τριῶν πήχεων τὸ ὕψος αὐτῆς· καὶ ἔστη ἐπʼ αὐτῆς, καὶ ἔπεσεν ἐπὶ τὰ γόνατα ἔναντι πάσης ἐκκλησίας Ἰσραὴλ, καὶ διεπέτασε τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν οὐρανὸν,
14He said: O Lord God of Israel, there is no God like thee in heaven nor in earth: who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants, that walk before thee with all their hearts:ait: Domine Deus Israël, non est similis tui deus in caelo et in terra: qui custodis pactum et misericordiam cum servis tuis qui ambulant coram te in toto corde suo:καὶ εἶπε, Κύριε ὁ Θεὸς Ἰσραὴλ, οὐκ ἔστιν ὅμοιός σοι Θεὸς ἐν οὐρανῷ καὶ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, φυλάσσων τὴν διαθήκην καὶ τὸ ἔλεος τοῖς παισὶ σου τοῖς πορευομένοις ἐναντίον σου ἐν ὅλῃ καρδίᾳ·
15Who hast performed to thy servant David my father all that thou hast promised him: and hast accomplished in fact, what thou hast spoken with thy mouth, as also the present time proveth.qui praestitisti servo tuo David patri meo quaecumque locutus fueras ei: et quae ore promiseras, opere complesti, sicut et praesens tempus probat.Ἃ ἐφύλαξας τῷ παιδί σου Δαυὶδ τῷ πατρί μου, ἃ ἐλάλησας αὐτῷ, λέγων· καὶ ἐλάλησας ἐν στόματί σου, καὶ ἐν χερσί σου ἐπλήρωσας, ὡς ἡ ἡμέρα αὕτη.
16Now then, O Lord God of Israel, fulfill to thy servant David my father, whatsoever thou hast promised him, saying: There shall not fail thee a man in my sight, to sit upon the throne of Israel: yet so that thy children take heed to their ways, and walk in my law, as thou hast walked before me.Nunc ergo Domine Deus Israël, imple servo tuo patri meo David quaecumque locutus es, dicens: Non deficiet ex te vir coram me, qui sedeat super thronum Israël: ita tamen si custodierint filii tui vias suas, et ambulaverint in lege mea, sicut et tu ambulasti coram me.Καὶ νῦν,
17And now, Lord God of Israel, let thy word be established which thou hast spoken to thy servant David.
18Is it credible then that God should dwell with men on the earth? If heaven and the heavens of heavens do not contain thee, how much less this house, which I have built?Ergone credibile est ut habitet Deus cum hominibus super terram? si caelum et caeli caelorum non te capiunt, quanto magis domus ista quam aedificavi?Ὅτι εἰ ἀληθῶς κατοικήσει Θεὸς μετὰ ἀνθρώπων ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς; εἰ ὁ οὐρανὸς καὶ ὁ οὐρανὸς τοῦ οὐρανοῦ οὐκ ἀρκέσουσί σοι, καὶ τίς ὁ οἶκος οὗτος ὃν ᾠκοδόμησα;
19But to this end only it is made, that thou mayest regard the prayer of thy servant and his supplication, O Lord my God: and mayest hear the prayers which thy servant poureth out before thee.
20That thou mayest open thy eyes upon this house day and night, upon the place wherein thou hast promised that thy name should be called upon,ut aperias oculos tuos super domum istam diebus ac noctibus, super locum in quo pollicitus es ut invocaretur nomen tuum,τοῦ εἶναι ὀφθαλμούς σου ἀνεῳγμένους ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον τοῦτον ἡμέρας καὶ νυκτὸς εἰς τὸν τόπον τοῦτον, ὃν εἶπας ἐπικληθῆναι τὸ ὄνομά σου ἐκεῖ, τοῦ ἀκοῦσαι τῆς προσευχῆς ἧς προσεύχεται ὁ παῖς σου εἰς τὸν τόπον τοῦτον·
21And that thou wouldst hear the prayer which thy servant prayeth in it: hearken then to the prayers of thy servant, and of thy people Israel. Whosoever shall pray in this place, hear thou from thy dwelling place, that is, from heaven, and shew mercy.et exaudires orationem quam servus tuus orat in eo: et exaudias preces famuli tui, et populi tui Israël. Quicumque oraverit in loco isto, exaudi de habitaculo tuo, id est, de caelis, et propitiare.Καὶ ἀκούσῃ τῆς δεήσεως τοῦ παιδός σου, καὶ λαοῦ σου Ἰσραὴλ, ἃ ἂν προσεύξωνται εἰς τὸν τόπον τοῦτον· καὶ σὺ εἰσακούσῃ ἐν τῷ τόπῳ τῆς κατοικήσεώς σου ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, καὶ ἀκούσῃ καὶ ἵλεως ἔσῃ.
22If any man sin against his neighbour, and come to swear against him, and bind himself with a curse before the altar in this house:Si peccaverit quispiam in proximum suum, et iurare contra eum paratus venerit, seque maledicto constrinxerit coram altari in domo ista:Ἐὰν ἁμάρτῃ ἀνὴρ τῷ πλησίον αὐτοῦ καὶ λάβῃ ἐπʼ αὐτὸν ἀρὰν τοῦ ἀρᾶσθαι αὐτὸν, καὶ ἔλθῃ καὶ ἀράσηται κατέναντι τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τούτῳ,
23Then hear thou from heaven, and do justice to thy servants, so as to requite the wicked by making his wickedness fall upon his own head, and to revenge the just, rewarding him according to his justice.tu audies de caelo, et facies iudicium servorum tuorum, ita ut reddas iniquo viam suam in caput proprium, et ulciscaris iustum, retribuens ei secundum iustitiam suam.καὶ σὺ εἰσακούσῃ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, καὶ ποιήσεις, καὶ κρινεῖς τοὺς δούλους σου, τοῦ ἀποδοῦναι τῷ ἀνόμῳ, καὶ ἀποδοῦναι ὁδοὺς αὐτοῦ εἰς κεφαλὴν αὐτοῦ, καὶ τοῦ δικαιῶσαι δίκαιον, τοῦ ἀποδοῦναι αὐτῷ κατὰ τὴν δικαιοσύνην αὐτοῦ.
24If thy people Israel be overcome by their enemies, (for they will sin against thee,) and being converted shall do penance, and call upon thy name, and pray to thee in this place,Si superatus fuerit populus tuus Israël ab inimicis (peccabunt enim tibi), et conversi egerint poenitentiam, et obsecraverint nomen tuum, et fuerint deprecati in loco isto,Καὶ ἐὰν θραυσθῇ ὁ λαός σου Ἰσραὴλ κατέναντι τοῦ ἐχθροῦ, ἐὰν ἁμάρτωσί σοι, καὶ ἐπιστρέψωσι καὶ ἐξομολογήσωνται τῷ ὀνόματί σου, καὶ προσεύξωνται καὶ δεηθῶσιν ἐναντίον σου ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ τούτῳ,
25Then hear thou from heaven, and forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring them back into the land, which thou gavest to them, and their fathers.tu exaudies de caelo: et propitiare peccato populi tui Israël, et reduc eos in terram quam dedisti eis, et patribus eorum.καὶ σὺ εἰσακούσῃ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, καὶ ἵλεως ἔσῃ ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις λαοῦ σου Ἰσραὴλ, καὶ ἀποστρέψεις αὐτοὺς εἰς τὴν γῆν ἣν ἔδωκας αὐτοῖς καὶ τοῖς πατράσιν αὐτῶν.
26If the heavens be shut up, and there fall no rain by reason of the sins of the people, and they shall pray to thee in this place, and confess to thy name, and be converted from their sins, when thou dost afflict them,Si clauso caelo pluvia non fluxerit propter peccata populi, et deprecati te fuerint in loco isto, et confessi nomini tuo, et conversi a peccatis suis, cum eos afflixeris,Ἐν τῷ συσχεθῆναι τὸν οὐρανὸν καὶ μὴ γενέσθαι ὑετὸν, ὅτι ἁμαρτήσονταί σοι, καὶ προσεύξονται εἰς τὸν τόπον τοῦτον, καὶ αἰνέσουσι τὸ ὄνομά σου, καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν αὐτῶν ἐπιστρέψουσιν, ὅτι ταπεινώσεις αὐτοὺς,
27Then hear thou from heaven, O Lord, and forgive the sins of thy servants and of thy people Israel, and teach them the good way, in which they may walk: and give rain to thy land which thou hast given to thy people to possess.exaudi de caelo, Domine, et dimitte peccata servis tuis et populi tui Israël, et doce eos viam bonam, per quam ingrediantur: et da pluviam terrae quam dedisti populo tuo ad possidendum.καὶ σὺ εἰσακούσῃ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ, καὶ ἵλεως ἔσῃ ταῖς ἁμαρτίαις τῶν παίδων καὶ τοῦ λαοῦ σου Ἰσραὴλ, ὅτι δηλώσεις αὐτοῖς τὴν ὁδὸν τὴν ἀγαθὴν, ἐν ᾗ πορεύσονται ἐν αὐτῇ, καὶ δώσεις ὑετὸν ἐπὶ τὴν γῆν σου, ἣν ἔδωκας τῷ λαῷ σου εἰς κληρονομίαν.
28If a famine arise in the land, or a pestilence or blasting, or mildew, or locusts, or caterpillars: or if their enemies waste the country, and besiege the cities, whatsoever scourge or infirmity shall be upon them:Fames si orta fuerit in terra, et pestilentia, aerugo, et aurugo, et locusta, et bruchus: et hostes, vastatis regionibus, portas obsederint civitatis, omnisque plaga et infirmitas presserit:Λιμὸς ἐὰν γένηται ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, θάνατος ἐὰν γένηται, ἀνεμοφθορία καὶ ἴκτερος, ἀκρὶς καὶ βροῦχος ἐὰν γένηται, καὶ ἐὰν θλίψῃ αὐτὸν ὁ ἐχθρὸς κατέναντι τῶν πόλεων αὐτῶν, κατὰ πᾶσαν πληγὴν καὶ πάντα πόνον,
29Then if any of thy people Israel, knowing his own scourge and infirmity shall pray, and shall spread forth his hands in this house,si quis de populo tuo Israël fuerit deprecatus, cognoscens plagam et infirmitatem suam, et expanderit manus suas in domo hac,καὶ πᾶσα προσευχὴ, καὶ πᾶσα δέησις ἣ ἐὰν γένηται παντὶ ἀνθρώπῳ καὶ παντὶ λαῷ σου Ἰσραὴλ, ἐὰν γνῷ ἄνθρωπος τὴν ἁφὴν αὐτοῦ καὶ τὴν μαλακίαν αὐτοῦ, καὶ διαπετάσῃ τὰς χεῖρας αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν οἶκον τοῦτον,
30Hear thou from heaven, from thy high dwelling place, and forgive, and render to every one according to his ways, which thou knowest him to have in his heart: (for thou only knowest the hearts of the children of men:)tu exaudies de caelo, de sublimi scilicet habitaculo tuo: et propitiare, et redde unicuique secundum vias suas, quas nosti eum habere in corde suo (tu enim solus nosti corda filiorum hominum):καὶ σὺ εἰσακούσῃ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἐξ ἑτοίμου κατοικητηρίου σου, καὶ ἱλάσῃ, καὶ δώσεις ἀνδρὶ κατὰ τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτοῦ, ὡς ἂν γνῷς τὴν καρδίαν αὐτοῦ, ὅτι μόνος γινώσκεις τὴν καρδίαν υἱῶν ἀνθρώπων,
31That they may fear thee, and walk in thy ways all the days that they live upon the face of the land, which thou hast given to our fathers.ut timeant te, et ambulent in viis tuis cunctis diebus quibus vivunt super faciem terrae quam dedisti patribus nostris.ὅπως φοβῶνται πάσας ὁδούς σου πάσας τὰς ἡμέρας ἃς αὐτοὶ ζῶσιν ἐπὶ πρόσωπον τῆς γῆς, ἧς ἔδωκας τοῖς πατράσιν ἡμῶν.
32If the stranger also, who is not of thy people Israel, come from a far country, for the sake of thy great name, and thy strong hand, and thy stretched out arm, and adore in this place:Externum quoque, qui non est de populo tuo Israël, si venerit de terra longinqua propter nomen tuum magnum, et propter manum tuam robustam, et brachium tuum extentum, et adoraverit in loco isto,Καὶ πᾶς ἀλλότριος ὃς οὐκ ἐκ τοῦ λαοῦ σου Ἰσραήλ ἐστιν αὐτὸς, καὶ ἔλθῃ ἐκ γῆς μακρόθεν διὰ τὸ ὄνομά σου τὸ μέγα, καὶ τὴν χεῖρά σου τὴν κραταιὰν, καὶ τὸν βραχίονά σου τὸν ὑψηλὸν, καὶ ἔλθωσι καὶ προσεύξωνται εἰς τὸν τόπον τοῦτον,
33Hear thou from heaven thy firm dwelling place, and do all that which that stranger shall call upon thee for: that all the people of the earth may know thy name, and may fear thee, as thy people Israel, and may know, that thy name is invoked upon this house, which I have built.tu exaudies de caelo firmissimo habitaculo tuo, et facies cuncta pro quibus invocaverit te ille peregrinus: ut sciant omnes populi terrae nomen tuum, et timeant te sicut populus tuus Israël, et cognoscant quia nomen tuum invocatum est super domum hanc quam aedificavi.καὶ σὺ εἰσακούσῃ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἐξ ἑτοίμου κατοικητηρίου σου, καὶ ποιήσεις κατὰ πάντα ὅσα ἂν ἐπικαλέσηταί σε ὁ ἀλλότριος, ὅπως γνῶσι πάντες οἱ λαοὶ τῆς γῆς τὸ ὄνομά σου, καὶ τοῦ φοβεῖσθαί σε, ὡς ὁ λαός σου Ἰσραὴλ, καὶ τοῦ γνῶναι ὅτι τὸ ὄνομά σου ἐπικέκληται ἐπὶ τὸν οἶκον τοῦτον, ὃν ᾠκοδόμησα.
34If thy people go out to war against their enemies, by the way that thou shalt send them, and adore thee towards the way of this city, which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built to thy name:Si egressus fuerit populus tuus ad bellum contra adversarios suos per viam in qua miseris eos, adorabunt te contra viam in qua civitas haec est, quam elegisti, et domus quam aedificavi nomini tuo,Ἐὰν δὲ ἐξέλθῃ ὁ λαός σου εἰς πόλεμον ἐπὶ τοὺς ἐχθροὺς αὐτοῦ ἐν ὁδῷ ᾗ ἀποστελεῖς αὐτούς, καὶ προσεύξωνται πρὸς σὲ κατὰ τὴν ὁδὸν τῆς πόλεως ταύτης ἣν ἐξελέξω ἐν αὐτῇ, καὶ οἴκου οὗ ᾠκοδόμηκα τῷ ὀνόματί σου,
35Then hear thou from heaven their prayers, and their supplications, and revenge them.tu exaudies de caelo preces eorum, et obsecrationem: et ulciscaris.καὶ ἀκούσῃ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ τῆς προσευχῆς αὐτῶν καὶ τῆς δεήσεως αὐτῶν, καὶ ποιήσεις τὸ δικαίωμα αὐτῶν.
36And if they sin against thee (for there is no man that sinneth not) and thou be angry with them, and deliver them up to their enemies, and they lead them away captive to a land either afar off, or near at hand,Si autem peccaverint tibi (neque enim est homo qui non peccet), et iratus fueris eis, et tradideris hostibus, et captivos duxerint eos in terram longinquam, vel certe quae iuxta est,Ὅτι ἁμαρτήσονταί σοι, ὅτι οὐκ ἔσται ἄνθρωπος ὃς οὐχ ἁμαρτήσεται, καὶ πατάξεις αὐτοὺς καὶ παραδώσεις αὐτοὺς κατὰ πρόσωπον ἐχθρῶν καὶ αἰχμαλωτεύσουσιν αὐτοὺς οἱ αἰχμαλωτεύοντες αὐτοὺς εἰς γῆν ἐχθρῶν εἰς γῆν μακρὰν ἢ ἐγγὺς,
37And if they be converted in their heart in the land to which they were led captive, and do penance, and pray to thee in the land of their captivity, saying: We have sinned, we have done wickedly, we have dealt unjustly:et conversi in corde suo in terra ad quam captivi ducti fuerant, egerint poenitentiam, et deprecati te fuerint in terra captivitatis suae, dicentes: Peccavimus: inique fecimus, iniuste egimus:καὶ ἐπιστρέψωσι καρδίαν αὐτῶν ἐν τῇ γῇ αὐτῶν οὗ μετήχθησαν ἐκεῖ, καί γε ἐπιστρέψωσι καὶ δεηθῶσί σου ἐν τῇ αἰχμαλωσίᾳ αὐτῶν, λέγοντες, ἡμάρτομεν, ἠνομήσαμεν, ἠδικήσαμεν,
38And return to thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their captivity, to which they were led away, and adore thee towards the way of their own land which thou gavest their fathers, and of the city, which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built to thy name:et reversi fuerint ad te in toto corde suo, et in tota anima sua, in terra captivitatis suae ad quam ducti sunt, adorabunt te contra viam terrae suae, quam dedisti patribus eorum, et urbis quam elegisti, et domus quam aedificavi nomini tuo:καὶ ἐπιστρέψωσι πρὸς σὲ ἐν ὅλῃ καρδίᾳ καὶ ἐν ὅλῃ ψυχῇ αὐτῶν ἐν γῇ αἰχμαλωτευσάντων αὐτοὺς, ὅπου ᾐχμαλώτευσαν αὐτοὺς, καὶ προσεύξωνται ὁδὸν γῆς αὐτῶν ἧς ἔδωκας τοῖς πατράσιν αὐτῶν, καὶ τῆς πόλεως ἧς ἐξελέξω, καὶ τοῦ οἴκου οὗ ᾠκοδόμησα τῷ ὀνόματί σου,
39Then hear thou from heaven, that is, from thy firm dwelling place, their prayers, and do judgment, and forgive thy people, although they have sinned:tu exaudies de caelo, hoc est, de firmo habitaculo tuo, preces eorum: et facias iudicium, et dimittas populo tuo, quamvis peccatori:καὶ ἀκούσῃ ἐκ τοῦ οὐρανοῦ ἐξ ἑτοίμου κατοικητηρίου σου τῆς προσευχῆς αὐτῶν καὶ τῆς δεήσεως αὐτῶν, καὶ ποιήσεις κρίματα, καὶ ἵλεως ἔσῃ τῷ λαῷ τῷ ἁμαρτῶντί σοι.
40For thou art my God: let thy eyes, I beseech thee, be open, and let thy ears be attentive to the prayer, that is made in this place.tu es enim Deus meus: aperiantur, quaeso, oculi tui, et aures tuae intentae sint ad orationem quae fit in loco isto.Καὶ νῦν Κύριε ἔστωσαν δὴ οἱ ὀφθαλμοί σου ἀνεῳγμένοι, καὶ τὰ ὦτά σου ἐπήκοα εἰς τὴν δέησιν τοῦ τόπου τούτου.
41Now therefore arise, O Lord God, into thy resting place, thou and the ark of thy strength: let thy priests, O Lord God, put on salvation, and thy saints rejoice in good things.Nunc igitur consurge, Domine Deus, in requiem tuam, tu et arca fortitudinis tuae: sacerdotes tui, Domine Deus, induantur salutem, et sancti tui laetentur in bonis.Καὶ νῦν ἀνάστηθι Κύριε ὁ Θεὸς εἰς τὴν κατάπαυσίν σου, σὺ καὶ ἡ κιβωτὸς τῆς ἰσχύος σου· ἱερεῖς σου Κύριε ὁ Θεὸς ἐνδύσαιντο σωτηρίαν, καὶ οἱ υἱοί σου εὐφρανθήτωσαν ἐν ἀγαθοῖς.
42O Lord God, turn not away the face of thy anointed: remember the mercies of David thy servant.

Jesus laments over Jerusalem, which kills the prophets

The same day, there came some of the Pharisees, saying to him: Depart, and get thee hence, for Herod hath a mind to kill thee. And he said to them: Go and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and do cures today and…
