2 Chronicles 30: Douay-Rheims and Septuagint (Sixtine edition, 1587)
Douay-RheimsSeptuagint (Sixtine edition, 1587)
1And Ezechias sent to all Israel and Juda: and he wrote letters to Ephraim and Manasses, that they should come to the house of the Lord in Jerusalem, and keep the phase to the Lord the God of Israel.Καὶ ἀπέστειλεν Ἐζεκίας ἐπὶ πάντα Ἰσραὴλ καὶ Ἰούδα, καὶ ἐπιστολὰς ἔγραψεν ἐπὶ τὸν Ἐφραὶμ καὶ Μανασσῆ, ἐλθεῖν εἰς οἶκον Κυρίου, εἰς Ἱερουσαλὴμ, ποιῆσαι τὸ φασὲκ τῷ Κυρίῳ Θεῷ Ἰσραήλ.
2For the king, taking counsel, and the princes, and all the assembly of Jerusalem, decreed to keep the phase the second month.Καὶ ἐβουλεύσατο ὁ βασιλεὺς καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες καὶ πᾶσα ἡ ἐκκλησία ἐν Ἱερουσαλὴμ ποιῆσαι τὸ φασὲκ τῷ μηνὶ τῷ δευτέρῳ.
3For they could not keep it in its time; because there were not priests enough sanctified, and the people was not as yet gathered together to Jerusalem.Οὐ γὰρ ἠδυνάσθησαν ποιῆσαι αὐτὸ ἐν τῷ καιρῷ ἐκείνῳ, ὅτι οἱ ἱερεῖς οὐχ ἠγνίσθησαν ἱκανοὶ, καὶ ὁ λαὸς οὐ συνήχθη εἰς Ἱερουσαλήμ.
4And the thing pleased the king, and all the people.Καὶ ἤρεσεν ὁ λόγος ἐναντίον τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ ἐναντίον τῆς ἐκκλησίας.
5And they decreed to send messengers to all Israel from Bersabee even to Dan, that they should come, and keep the phase to the Lord the God of Israel in Jerusalem: for many had not kept it as it is prescribed by the law.Καὶ ἔστησαν λόγον διελθεῖν κήρυγμα ἐν παντὶ Ἰσραὴλ ἀπὸ Βηρσαβεὲ ἕως Δὰν, ἐλθόντας ποιῆσαι τὸ φασὲκ Κυρίῳ Θεῷ Ἰσραὴλ εἰς Ἱερουσαλὴμ, ὅτι πλῆθος οὐκ ἐποίησεν κατὰ τὴν γραφήν.
6And the posts went with letters by commandment of the king, and his princes, to all Israel and Juda, proclaiming according to the king’s orders: Ye children of Israel, turn again to the Lord the God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Israel: and he will return to the remnant of you that have escaped the hand of the king of the Assyrians.Καὶ ἐπορεύθησαν οἱ τρέχοντες σὺν ταῖς ἐπιστολαῖς παρὰ τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ τῶν ἀρχόντων εἰς πάντα Ἰσραὴλ καὶ Ἰούδαν κατὰ τὸ πρόσταγμα τοῦ βασιλέως, λέγοντες, οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ ἐπιστρέψατε πρὸς Κύριον Θεὸν Ἁβραὰμ καὶ Ἰσαὰκ καὶ Ἰσραὴλ, καὶ ἐπιστρέψατε τοὺς ἀνασεσωσμένους τοὺς καταλειφθέντας ἀπὸ χειρὸς βασιλέως Ἀσσούρ.
7Be not like your fathers, and brethren, who departed from the Lord the God of their fathers, and he hath given them up to destruction, as you see.Καὶ μὴ γίνεσθε καθὼς οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ ὑμῶν, οἳ ἀπέστησαν ἀπὸ Κυρίου Θεοῦ πατέρων αὐτῶν, καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτοὺς εἰς ἐρήμωσιν καθὼς ὑμεῖς ὁρᾶτε.
8Harden not your necks, as your fathers did: yield yourselves to the Lord, and come to his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever: serve the Lord the God of your fathers, and the wrath of his indignation shall be turned away from you.Καὶ νῦν μὴ σκληρύνητε τὰς καρδίας ὑμῶν ὡς οἱ πατέρες ὑμῶν, δότε δόξαν Κυρίῳ τῷ Θεῷ, καὶ εἰσέλθετε εἰς τὸ ἁγίασμα αὐτοῦ ὃ ἡγίασεν εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα, καὶ δουλεύσατε τῷ Κυρίῳ Θεῷ ὑμῶν, καὶ ἀποστρέψει ἀφʼ ὑμῶν θυμὸν ὀργῆς.
9For if you turn again to the Lord: your brethren, and children shall find mercy before their masters, that have led them away captive, and they shall return into this land: for the Lord your God is merciful, and will not turn away his face from you, if you return to him.Ὅτι ἐν τῷ ἐπιστρέφειν ὑμᾶς πρὸς Κύριον, οἱ ἀδελφοὶ ὑμῶν καὶ τὰ τέκνα ὑμῶν ἔσονται ἐν οἰκτιρμοῖς ἔναντι πάντων τῶν αἰχμαλωτισάντων αὐτοὺς, καὶ ἀποστρέψει εἰς τὴν γῆν ταύτην· ὅτι ἐλεήμων καὶ οἰκτίρμων Κύριος ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν, καὶ οὐκ ἀποστρέψει τὸ πρόσωπον αὐτοῦ ἀφʼ ὑμῶν, ἐὰν ἐπιστρέψωμεν πρὸς αὐτόν.
10So the posts went speedily from city to city, through the land of Ephraim, and of Manasses, even to Zabulon, whilst they laughed at them and mocked them.Καὶ ἦσαν οἱ τρέχοντες διαπορευόμενοι πόλιν ἐκ πόλεως ἐν τῷ ὄρει Ἐφραὶμ, καὶ Μανασσῆ, καὶ ἕως Ζαβουλών· καὶ ἐγένοντο ὡς καταγελῶντες αὐτῶν, καὶ καταμωκώμενοι.
11Nevertheless some men of Aser, and of Manasses, and of Zabulon, yielding to the counsel, came to Jerusalem.Ἀλλὰ ἄνθρωποι Ἀσὴρ καὶ ἀπὸ Μανασσῆ καὶ ἀπὸ Ζαβουλὼν ἐνετράπησαν, καὶ ἦλθον εἰς Ἱερουσαλὴμ καὶ εἰς Ἰούδα.
12But the hand of God was in Juda, to give them one heart to do the word of the Lord, according to the commandment of the king, and of the princes.Καὶ ἐγένετο χεὶρ Κυρίου δοῦναι αὐτοῖς καρδίαν μίαν ἐλθεῖν, τοῦ ποιῆσαι κατὰ τὰ προστάγματα τοῦ βασιλέως καὶ τῶν ἀρχόντων ἐν λόγῳ Κυρίου.
13And much people were assembled to Jerusalem to celebrate the solemnity of the unleavened bread in the second month:Καὶ συνήχθησαν εἰς Ἱερουσαλὴμ λαὸς πολὺς τοῦ ποιῆσαι τὴν ἑορτὴν τῶν ἀζύμων ἐν τῷ μηνὶ τῷ δευτέρῳ, ἐκκλησία πολλὴ σφόδρα.
14And they arose and destroyed the altars that were in Jerusalem, and took sway all things in which incense was burnt to idols, and cast them into the torrent Cedron.Καὶ ἀνέστησαν, καὶ καθεῖλαν τὰ θυσιαστήρια τὰ ἐν Ἱερουσαλὴμ, καὶ πάντα ἐν οἷς ἐθυμίων τοῖς ψευδέσι, κατέσπασαν καὶ ἔῤῥιψαν εἰς τὸν χειμάῤῥουν Κέδρων.
15And they immolated the phase on the fourteenth day of the second month. And the priests and the Levites being at length sanctified offered holocausts in the house of the Lord.Καὶ ἔθυσαν τὸ φασὲκ τῇ τεσσαρεσκαιδεκάτῃ τοῦ μηνὸς τοῦ δευτέρου· καὶ οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ οἱ Λευῖται ἐνετράπησαν καὶ ἥγνισαν, καὶ εἰσήνεγκαν ὁλοκαυτώματα ἐν οἴκῳ Κυρίου.
16And they stood in their order according to the disposition, and law of Moses the man of God: but the priests received the blood which was to be poured out, from the hands of the Levites,Καὶ ἔστησαν ἐπὶ τὴν στάσιν αὐτῶν, κατὰ τὸ κρίμα αὐτῶν, κατὰ τὴν ἐντολὴν Μωυσῆ ἀνθρώπου τοῦ Θεοῦ· καὶ οἱ ἱερεῖς ἐδέχοντο τὰ αἵματα ἐκ χειρὸς τῶν Λευιτῶν.
17Because a great number was not sanctified: and therefore the Levites immolated the phase for them that came not in time to be sanctified to the Lord.Ὅτι πλῆθος τῆς ἐκκλησίας οὐχ ἡγνίσθη, καὶ οἱ Λευῖται ἦσαν τοῦ θύειν τὸ φασὲκ παντὶ τῷ μὴ δυναμένῳ ἁγνισθῆναι τῷ Κυρίῳ.
18For a great part of the people from Ephraim, and Manasses, and Issachar, and Zabulon, that had not been sanctified, ate the phase otherwise than it is written: and Ezechias prayed for them, saying: The Lord who is good will shew mercy,Ὅτι πλεῖστον τοῦ λαοῦ ἀπὸ Ἐφραὶμ, καὶ Μανασσῆ, καὶ Ἰσσάχαρ, καὶ Ζαβουλὼν, οὐκ ἥγνισαν, ἀλλʼ ἔφαγον τὸ φασὲκ παρὰ τὴν γραφήν· τοῦτο καὶ προσηύξατο Ἐζεκίας περὶ αὐτῶν, λέγων, Κύριος ἀγαθὸς ἐξιλάσθω ὑπὲρ
19To all them, who with their whole heart, seek the Lord the God of their fathers: and will not impute it to them that they are not sanctified.πάσης καρδίας κατευθυνούσης ἐκζητῆσαι Κύριον τὸν Θεὸν τῶν πατέρων αὐτῶν, καὶ οὐ κατὰ τὴν ἁγνείαν τῶν ἁγίων.
20And the Lord heard him, and was merciful to the people.Καὶ ἐπήκουσε Κύριος τῷ Ἐζεκίᾳ, καὶ ἰάσατο τὸν λαόν.
21And the children of Israel, that were found at Jerusalem, kept the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great joy, praising the Lord every day: the Levites also, and the priests, with instruments that agreed to their office.Καὶ ἐποίησαν οἱ υἱοὶ Ἰσραὴλ οἱ εὑρεθέντες ἐν Ἱερουσαλὴμ, τὴν ἑορτὴν τῶν ἀζύμων ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας ἐν εὐφροσύνῃ μεγάλῃ, καὶ καθυμνοῦντες τῷ Κυρίῳ ἡμέραν καθʼ ἡμέραν, καὶ οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ οἱ Λευῖται ἐν ὀργάνοις τῷ Κυρίῳ.
22And Ezechias spoke to the heart of all the Levites, that had good understanding concerning the Lord: and they ate during the seven days of the solemnity, immolating victims of peace offerings, and praising the Lord the God of their fathers.Καὶ ἐλάλησεν Ἐζεκίας ἐπὶ πᾶσαν καρδίαν τῶν Λευιτῶν καὶ τῶν συνιόντων σύνεσιν ἀγαθὴν τῷ Κυρίῳ· καὶ συνετέλεσαν τὴν ἑορτὴν τῶν ἀζύμων ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας, θύοντες θυσίαν σωτηρίου, καὶ ἐξομολογούμενοι τῷ Κυρίῳ Θεῷ τῶν πατέρων αὐτῶν.
23And it pleased the whole multitude to keep other seven days: which they did with great joy.Καὶ ἐβουλεύσατο ἡ ἐκκλησία ἅμα ποιῆσαι ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας ἄλλας· καὶ ἐποίησαν ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας ἐν εὐφροσύνῃ.
24For Ezechias the king of Juda had given to the multitude a thousand bullocks, and seven thousand sheep: and the princes had given the people a thousand bullocks, and ten thousand sheep: and a great number of priests was sanctified.Ὅτι Ἐζεκίας ἀπήρξατο τῷ Ἰούδα τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ χιλίους μόσχους καὶ ἑπτακισχίλια πρόβατα, καὶ οἱ ἄρχοντες ἀπήρξαντο τῷ λαῷ μόσχους χιλίους καὶ πρόβατα δέκα χιλιάδας, καὶ τὰ ἅγια τῶν ἱερέων εἰς πλῆθος.
25And all the multitude of Juda with the priests and Levites, and all the assembly, that came out of Israel; and the proselytes of the land of Israel, and that dwelt in Juda were full of joy.Καὶ ηὐφράνθη πᾶσα ἡ ἐκκλήσια οἱ ἱερεῖς καὶ οἱ Λευῖται, καὶ πᾶσα ἡ ἐκκλησία Ἰούδα, καὶ οἱ εὑρεθέντες ἐξ Ἱερουσαλὴμ, καὶ οἱ προσήλυτοι οἱ ἐλθόντες ἀπὸ γῆς Ἰσραὴλ, καὶ οἱ κατοικοῦντες Ἰούδα.
26And there was a great solemnity in Jerusalem, such as had not been in that city since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel.Καὶ ἐγένετο εὐφροσύνη μεγάλη ἐν Ἱερουσαλήμ· ἀπὸ ἡμερῶν Σαλωμὼν υἱοῦ Δαυὶδ βασιλέως Ἰσραὴλ οὐκ ἐγένετο τοιαύτη ἑορτὴ ἐν Ἱερουσαλήμ.
27And the priests and the Levites rose up and blessed the people: and their voice was heard: and their prayer came to the holy dwelling place of heaven.Καὶ ἀνέστησαν οἱ ἱερεῖς οἱ Λευῖται καὶ εὐλόγησαν τὸν λαὸν· καὶ ἐπηκούσθη ἡ φωνὴ αὐτῶν, καὶ ἦλθεν ἡ προσευχὴ αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ κατοικητήριον τὸ ἅγιον αὐτοῦ εἰς τὸν οὐρανόν.

Jesus laments over Jerusalem, which kills the prophets

The same day, there came some of the Pharisees, saying to him: Depart, and get thee hence, for Herod hath a mind to kill thee. And he said to them: Go and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and do cures today and…
