Psalms 47: Douay-Rheims and Vulgata Clementina
Douay-RheimsVulgata Clementina
1A psalm of a canticle, for the sons of Core, on the second day of the week.Psalmus cantici. Filiis Core, secunda sabbati.
2Great is the Lord, and exceedingly to be praised in the city of our God, in his holy mountain.Magnus Dominus et laudabilis nimis, in civitate Dei nostri, in monte sancto eius.
3With the joy of the whole earth is mount Sion founded, on the sides of the north, the city of the great king.Fundatur exsultatione universae terrae mons Sion; latera aquilonis, civitas regis magni.
4In her houses shall God be known, when he shall protect her.Deus in domibus eius cognoscetur cum suscipiet eam.
5For behold the kings of the earth assembled themselves: they gathered together.Quoniam ecce reges terrae congregati sunt; convenerunt in unum.
6So they saw, and they wondered, they were troubled, they were moved:Ipsi videntes, sic admirati sunt, conturbati sunt, commoti sunt.
7Trembling took hold of them. There were pains as of a woman in labour.Tremor apprehendit eos; ibi dolores ut parturientis:
8With a vehement wind thou shalt break in pieces the ships of Tharsis.in spiritu vehementi conteres naves Tharsis.
9As we have heard, so have we seen, in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God hath founded it for ever.Sicut audivimus, sic vidimus, in civitate Domini virtutum, in civitate Dei nostri: Deus fundavit eam in aeternum.
10We have received thy mercy, O God, in the midst of thy temple.Suscepimus, Deus, misericordiam tuam in medio templi tui.
11According to thy name, O God, so also is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of justice.Secundum nomen tuum, Deus, sic et laus tua in fines terrae; iustitia plena est dextera tua.
12Let mount Sion rejoice, and the daughters of Juda be glad; because of thy judgments, O Lord.Laetetur mons Sion, et exsultent filiae Iudae, propter iudicia tua, Domine.
13Surround Sion, and encompass her: tell ye in her towers.Circumdate Sion, et complectimini eam; narrate in turribus eius.
14Set your hearts on her strength; and distribute her houses, that ye may relate it in another generation.Ponite corda vestra in virtute eius, et distribuite domos eius, ut enarretis in progenie altera.
15For this is God, our God unto eternity, and for ever and ever: he shall rule us for evermore.Quoniam hic est Deus, Deus noster in aeternum, et in saeculum saeculi: ipse reget nos in saecula.

Jesus laments over Jerusalem, which kills the prophets

The same day, there came some of the Pharisees, saying to him: Depart, and get thee hence, for Herod hath a mind to kill thee. And he said to them: Go and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and do cures today and…
