Mark 3: Douay-Rheims, Vulgata Clementina and Greek text (Patriarchal edition, 1904)
Douay-RheimsVulgata ClementinaGreek text (Patriarchal edition, 1904)
And he entered again into the synagogue, and there was a man there who had a withered hand.Et introivit iterum in synagogam: et erat ibi homo habens manum aridam.Καὶ εἰσῆλθε πάλιν εἰς τὴν συναγωγήν· καὶ ἦν ἐκεῖ ἄνθρωπος ἐξηραμμένην ἔχων τὴν χεῖρα.
And they watched him whether he would heal on the sabbath days; that they might accuse him.
And he said to the man who had the withered hand: Stand up in the midst.Et ait homini habenti manum aridam: Surge in medium.καὶ λέγει τῷ ἀνθρώπῳ τῷ ἐξηραμμένην ἔχοντι τὴν χεῖρα· ἔγειρε εἰς τὸ μέσον.
And he saith to them: Is it lawful to do good on the sabbath days, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy? But they held their peace.Et dicit eis: Licet sabbatis benefacere, an male? animam salvam facere, an perdere?
And looking round about on them with anger, being grieved for the blindness of their hearts, he saith to the man: Stretch forth thy hand. And he stretched it forth: and his hand was restored unto him.Et circumspiciens eos cum ira, contristatus super caecitate cordis eorum, dicit homini: Extende manum tuam.
And the Pharisees going out, immediately made a consultation with the Herodians against him, how they might destroy him.
But Jesus retired with his disciples to the sea; and a great multitude followed him from Galilee and Judea,Iesus autem cum discipulis suis secessit ad mare: et multa turba a Galilaea et Iudaea secuta est eum,Καὶ ὁ Ἰησοῦς ἀνεχώρησε μετὰ τῶν μαθητῶν αὐτοῦ πρὸς τὴν θάλασσαν· καὶ πολὺ πλῆθος ἀπὸ τῆς Γαλιλαίας ἠκολούθησαν αὐτῷ,
And from Jerusalem, and from Idumea, and from beyond the Jordan. And they about Tyre and Sidon, a great multitude, hearing the things which he did, came to him.et ab Ierosolymis, et ab Idumaea, et trans Iordanem: et qui circa Tyrum et Sidonem multitudo magna, audientes quae faciebat, venerunt ad eum.καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰουδαίας καὶ ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων καὶ ἀπὸ τῆς Ἰδουμαίας καὶ πέραν τοῦ Ἰορδάνου καὶ οἱ περὶ Τύρον καὶ Σιδῶνα, πλῆθος πολύ, ἀκούσαντες ὅσα ἐποίει, ἦλθον πρὸς αὐτόν.
And he spoke to his disciples that a small ship should wait on him because of the multitude, lest they should throng him.
For he healed many, so that they pressed upon him for to touch him, as many as had evils.multos enim sanabat, ita ut irruerent in eum ut illum tangerent, quotquot habebant plagas.πολλοὺς γὰρ ἐθεράπευσεν, ὥστε ἐπιπίπτειν αὐτῷ ἵνα αὐτοῦ ἅψωνται ὅσοι εἶχον μάστιγας·
And the unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him: and they cried, saying:Et spiritus immundi, cum illum videbant, procidebant ei: et clamabant, dicentes:καὶ τὰ πνεύματα τὰ ἀκάθαρτα, ὅταν αὐτὸν ἐθεώρουν, προσέπιπτον αὐτῷ καὶ ἔκραζον λέγοντα ὅτι σὺ εἶ ὁ υἱὸς τοῦ Θεοῦ.
Thou art the Son of God. And he strictly charged them that they should not make him known.Tu es Filius Dei.
And going up into a mountain, he called unto him whom he would himself: and they came to him.Et ascendens in montem vocavit ad se quos voluit ipse: et venerunt ad eum.Καὶ ἀναβαίνει εἰς τὸ ὄρος, καὶ προσκαλεῖται οὓς ἤθελεν αὐτός, καὶ ἀπῆλθον πρὸς αὐτόν.
And he made that twelve should be with him, and that he might send them to preach.
And he gave them power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils.
And to Simon he gave the name Peter:Et imposuit Simoni nomen Petrus:καὶ ἐπέθηκεν ὄνομα τῷ Σίμωνι Πέτρον,
And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James; and he named them Boanerges, which is, The sons of thunder:et Iacobum Zebedaei, et Ioannem fratrem Iacobi, et imposuit eis nomina Boanerges, quod est, Filii tonitrui:καὶ Ἰάκωβον τὸν τοῦ Ζεβεδαίου καὶ Ἰωάννην τὸν ἀδελφὸν τοῦ Ἰακώβου· καὶ ἐπέθηκεν αὐτοῖς ὀνόματα Βοανεργές, ὅ ἐστιν υἱοὶ βροντῆς·
And Andrew and Philip, and Bartholomew and Matthew, and Thomas and James of Alpheus, and Thaddeus, and Simon the Cananean:et Andraeam, et Philippum, et Bartholomaeum, et Matthaeum, et Thomam, et Iacobum Alphaei, et Thaddaeum, et Simonem Cananaeum,καὶ Ἀνδρέαν καὶ Φίλιππον καὶ Βαρθολομαῖον καὶ Ματθαῖον καὶ Θωμᾶν καὶ Ἰάκωβον τὸν τοῦ Ἀλφαίου καὶ Θαδδαῖον καὶ Σίμωνα τὸν Κανανίτην
And Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.et Iudam Iscariotem, qui et tradidit illum.καὶ Ἰούδαν Ἰσκαριώτην, ὃς καὶ παρέδωκεν αὐτόν.
And they come to a house, and the multitude cometh together again, so that they could not so much as eat bread.
And when his friends had heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him. For they said: He is become mad.Et cum audissent sui, exierunt tenere eum: dicebant enim: Quoniam in furorem versus est.καὶ ἀκούσαντες οἱ παρ᾽ αὐτοῦ ἐξῆλθον κρατῆσαι αὐτόν· ἔλεγον γὰρ ὅτι ἐξέστη.
And the scribes who were come down from Jerusalem, said: He hath Beelzebub, and by the prince of devils he casteth out devils.Et scribae, qui ab Ierosolymis descenderant, dicebant: Quoniam Beelzebub habet, et quia in principe daemoniorum eiicit daemonia.καὶ οἱ γραμματεῖς οἱ ἀπὸ Ἱεροσολύμων καταβάντες ἔλεγον ὅτι Βεελζεβοὺλ ἔχει, καὶ ὅτι ἐν τῷ ἄρχοντι τῶν δαιμονίων ἐκβάλλει τὰ δαιμόνια.
And after he had called them together, he said to them in parables: How can Satan cast out Satan?Et convocatis eis in parabolis dicebat illis: Quomodo potest Satanas Satanam eiicere?καὶ προσκαλεσάμενος αὐτοὺς ἐν παραβολαῖς ἔλεγεν αὐτοῖς· πῶς δύναται σατανᾶς σατανᾶν ἐκβάλλειν;
And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.Et si regnum in se dividatur, non potest regnum illud stare.καὶ ἐὰν βασιλεία ἐφ᾽ ἑαυτὴν μερισθῇ, οὐ δύναται σταθῆναι ἡ βασιλεία ἐκείνη·
And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
And if Satan be risen up against himself, he is divided, and cannot stand, but hath an end.Et si Satanas consurrexerit in semetipsum, dispertitus est, et non poterit stare, sed finem habet.καὶ εἰ ὁ σατανᾶς ἀνέστη ἐφ᾽ ἑαυτὸν καὶ μεμέρισται, οὐ δύναται σταθῆναι, ἀλλὰ τέλος ἔχει.
No man can enter into the house of a strong man and rob him of his goods, unless he first bind the strong man, and then shall he plunder his house.Nemo potest vasa fortis ingressus in domum diripere, nisi prius fortem alliget, et tunc domum eius diripiet.οὐδεὶς δύναται τὰ σκεύη τοῦ ἰσχυροῦ εἰσελθὼν εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ διαρπάσαι, ἐὰν μὴ πρῶτον τὸν ἰσχυρὸν δήσῃ, καὶ τότε τὴν οἰκίαν αὐτοῦ διαρπάσει.
Amen I say to you, that all sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and the blasphemies wherewith they shall blaspheme:Amen dico vobis, quoniam omnia dimittentur filiis hominum peccata, et blasphemiae quibus blasphemaverint:Ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι πάντα ἀφεθήσεται τοῖς υἱοῖς τῶν ἀνθρώπων τὰ ἁμαρτήματα καὶ αἱ βλασφημίαι ὅσας ἐὰν βλασφημήσωσιν·
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost, shall never have forgiveness, but shall be guilty of an everlasting sin.qui autem blasphemaverit in Spiritum Sanctum, non habebit remissionem in aeternum, sed reus erit aeterni delicti.ὃς δ᾽ ἂν βλασφημήσῃ εἰς τὸ Πνεῦμα τὸ Ἅγιον, οὐκ ἔχει ἄφεσιν εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα, ἀλλ᾽ ἔνοχός ἐστιν αἰωνίου κρίσεως·
Because they said: He hath an unclean spirit.
And his mother and his brethren came; and standing without, sent unto him, calling him.
And the multitude sat about him; and they say to him: Behold thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.et sedebat circa eum turba: et dicunt ei: Ecce mater tua et fratres tui foris quaerunt te.καὶ ἐκάθητο περὶ αὐτὸν ὄχλος· εἶπον δὲ αὐτῷ· ἰδοὺ ἡ μήτηρ σου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί σου ἔξω ζητοῦσί σε.
And answering them, he said: Who is my mother and my brethren?Et respondens eis, ait: Quae est mater mea et fratres mei?καὶ ἀπεκρίθη αὐτοῖς λέγων· τίς ἐστιν ἡ μήτηρ μου ἢ οἱ ἀδελφοί μου;
And looking round about on them who sat about him, he saith: Behold my mother and my brethren.Et circumspiciens eos, qui in circuitu eius sedebant, ait: Ecce mater mea et fratres mei.καὶ περιβλεψάμενος κύκλῳ τοὺς περὶ αὐτὸν καθημένους λέγει· ἴδε ἡ μήτηρ μου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί μου·
For whosoever shall do the will of God, he is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

Jesus laments over Jerusalem, which kills the prophets

The same day, there came some of the Pharisees, saying to him: Depart, and get thee hence, for Herod hath a mind to kill thee. And he said to them: Go and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and do cures today and…
