Grace be to you, and peace from God the Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. | Gratia vobis, et pax a Deo Patre nostro, et Domino Iesu Christo.
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with spiritual blessings in heavenly places, in Christ: | Benedictus Deus et Pater Domini nostri Iesu Christi, qui benedixit nos in omni benedictione spirituali in caelestibus in Christo, | Εὐλογητὸς ὁ Θεὸς καὶ πατὴρ τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, ὁ εὐλογήσας ἡμᾶς ἐν πάσῃ εὐλογίᾳ πνευματικῇ ἐν τοῖς ἐπουρανίοις ἐν Χριστῷ,
As he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and unspotted in his sight in charity.
Who hath predestinated us unto the adoption of children through Jesus Christ unto himself: according to the purpose of his will: | Qui praedestinavit nos in adoptionem filiorum per Iesum Christum in ipsum: secundum propositum voluntatis suae, | προορίσας ἡμᾶς εἰς υἱοθεσίαν διὰ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ εἰς αὐτόν, κατὰ τὴν εὐδοκίαν τοῦ θελήματος αὐτοῦ,
Unto the praise of the glory of his grace, in which he hath graced us in his beloved son. | in laudem gloriae gratiae suae, in qua gratificavit nos in dilecto Filio suo.
In whom we have redemption through his blood, the remission of sins, according to the riches of his grace, | In quo habemus redemptionem per sanguinem eius, remissionem peccatorum secundum divitias gratiae eius, | ἐν ᾧ ἔχομεν τὴν ἀπολύτρωσιν διὰ τοῦ αἵματος αὐτοῦ, τὴν ἄφεσιν τῶν παραπτωμάτων, κατὰ τὸν πλοῦτον τῆς χάριτος αὐτοῦ,
Which hath superabounded in us in all wisdom and prudence, | quae superabundavit in nobis in omni sapientia et prudentia: | ἧς ἐπερίσσευσεν εἰς ἡμᾶς ἐν πάσῃ σοφίᾳ καὶ φρονήσει,
That he might make known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure, which he hath purposed in him, | ut notum faceret nobis sacramentum voluntatis suae, secundum beneplacitum eius, quod proposuit in eo, | γνωρίσας ἡμῖν τὸ μυστήριον τοῦ θελήματος αὐτοῦ κατὰ τὴν εὐδοκίαν αὐτοῦ, ἣν προέθετο ἐν αὐτῷ
In the dispensation of the fulness of times, to re-establish all things in Christ, that are in heaven and on earth, in him. | in dispensatione plenitudinis temporum, instaurare omnia in Christo, quae in caelis et quae in terra sunt, in ipso; | εἰς οἰκονομίαν τοῦ πληρώματος τῶν καιρῶν, ἀνακεφαλαιώσασθαι τὰ πάντα ἐν τῷ Χριστῷ, τὰ ἐπὶ τοῖς οὐρανοῖς καὶ τὰ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς, ἐν αὐτῷ,
In whom we also are called by lot, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things according to the counsel of his will. | in quo etiam et nos sorte vocati sumus praedestinati secundum propositum eius qui operatur omnia secundum consilium voluntatis suae: | ἐν ᾧ καὶ ἐκληρώθημεν προορισθέντες κατὰ πρόθεσιν τοῦ τὰ πάντα ἐνεργοῦντος κατὰ τὴν βουλὴν τοῦ θελήματος αὐτοῦ,
That we may be unto the praise of his glory, we who before hoped Christ: | ut simus in laudem gloriae eius nos, qui ante speravimus in Christo; | εἰς τὸ εἶναι ἡμᾶς εἰς ἔπαινον δόξης αὐτοῦ, τοὺς προηλπικότας ἐν τῷ Χριστῷ·
In whom you also, after you had heard the word of truth, (the gospel of your salvation;) in whom also believing, you were signed with the holy Spirit of promise, | in quo et vos, cum audissetis verbum veritatis, Evangelium salutis vestrae, in quo et credentes signati estis Spiritu promissionis Sancto, | ἐν ᾧ καὶ ὑμεῖς ἀκούσαντες τὸν λόγον τῆς ἀληθείας, τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τῆς σωτηρίας ὑμῶν, ἐν ᾧ καὶ πιστεύσαντες ἐσφραγίσθητε τῷ Πνεύματι τῆς ἐπαγγελίας τῷ Ἁγίῳ,
Who is the pledge of our inheritance, unto the redemption of acquisition, unto the praise of his glory. | qui est pignus haereditatis nostrae, in redemptionem acquisitionis, in laudem gloriae ipsius.
Wherefore I also, hearing of your faith that is in the Lord Jesus, and of your love towards all the saints, | Propterea et ego audiens fidem vestram, quae est in Domino Iesu, et dilectionem in omnes sanctos, | Διὰ τοῦτο κἀγώ, ἀκούσας τὴν καθ᾽ ὑμᾶς πίστιν ἐν τῷ Κυρίῳ Ἰησοῦ καὶ τὴν ἀγάπην τὴν εἰς πάντας τοὺς ἁγίους,
Cease not to give thanks for you, making commemoration of you in my prayers, | non cesso gratias agens pro vobis, memoriam vestri faciens in orationibus meis: | οὐ παύομαι εὐχαριστῶν ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν μνείαν ὑμῶν ποιούμενος ἐπὶ τῶν προσευχῶν μου,
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and of revelation, in the knowledge of him: | ut Deus Domini nostri Iesu Christi, Pater gloriae, det vobis spiritum sapientiae et revelationis in agnitione eius, | ἵνα ὁ Θεὸς τοῦ Κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, ὁ πατὴρ τῆς δόξης, δῴη ὑμῖν πνεῦμα σοφίας καὶ ἀποκαλύψεως ἐν ἐπιγνώσει αὐτοῦ,
The eyes of your heart enlightened, that you may know what the hope is of the glory of his inheritance in the saints. | illuminatos oculos cordis vestri, ut sciatis quae sit spes vocationis eius, et quae divitiae gloriae haereditatis eius in sanctis, | πεφωτισμένους τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς τῆς καρδίας ὑμῶν, εἰς τὸ εἰδέναι ὑμᾶς τίς ἐστιν ἡ ἐλπὶς τῆς κλήσεως αὐτοῦ, καὶ τίς ὁ πλοῦτος τῆς δόξης τῆς κληρονομίας αὐτοῦ ἐν τοῖς ἁγίοις,
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power towards us, who believe according to the operation of the might of his power, | et quae sit supereminens magnitudo virtutis eius in nos, qui credimus secundum operationem potentiae virtutis eius, | καὶ τί τὸ ὑπερβάλλον μέγεθος τῆς δυνάμεως αὐτοῦ εἰς ἡμᾶς τοὺς πιστεύοντας κατὰ τὴν ἐνέργειαν τοῦ κράτους τῆς ἰσχύος αὐτοῦ,
Which he wrought in Christ, raising him up from the dead, and setting him on his right hand in the heavenly places. | quam operatus est in Christo, suscitans illum a mortuis, et constituens ad dexteram suam in caelestibus: | ἣν ἐνήργησεν ἐν τῷ Χριστῷ ἐγείρας αὐτὸν ἐκ νεκρῶν, καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἐν δεξιᾷ αὐτοῦ ἐν τοῖς ἐπουρανίοις
Above all principality, and power, and virtue, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come.
And he hath subjected all things under his feet, and hath made him head over all the church, | Et omnia subiecit sub pedibus eius: et ipsum dedit caput supra omnem ecclesiam, | καὶ πάντα ὑπέταξεν ὑπὸ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ, καὶ αὐτὸν ἔδωκε κεφαλὴν ὑπὲρ πάντα τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ,
Which is his body, and the fulness of him who is filled all in all.
