Chronicles 13: Douay-Rheims and Septuagint (Sixtine edition, 1587)
Douay-RheimsSeptuagint (Sixtine edition, 1587)
And David consulted with the captains of thousands, and of hundreds, and with all the commanders.Καὶ ἐβουλεύσατο Δαυὶδ μετὰ τῶν χιλιάρχων καὶ τῶν ἑκατοντάρχων, παντὶ ἡγουμένῳ.
And he said to all the assembly of Israel: If it please you; and if the words which I speak come from the Lord our God, let us send to the rest of our brethren into all the countries of Israel, and to the priests, and the Levites, that dwell in the suburbs of the cities, to gather themselves to us,Καὶ εἶπε Δαυὶδ πάσῃ ἐκκλησίᾳ Ἰσραὴλ, εἰ ἐφʼ ὑμῖν ἀγαθὸν, καὶ παρὰ Κυρίου τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν εὐοδωθῇ, ἀποστείλωμεν πρὸς τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς ἡμῶν τοὺς ὑπολελειμμένους ἐν πάσῃ γῇ Ἰσραὴλ, καὶ μετʼ αὐτῶν οἱ ἱερεῖς οἱ Λευῖται ἐν πόλεσι κατασχέσεως αὐτῶν, καὶ συναχθήσονται πρὸς ἡμᾶς,
And let us bring again the ark of our God to us: for we sought it not in the days of Saul.καὶ μετενέγκωμεν τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ Θεοῦ ἡμῶν πρὸς ἡμᾶς, ὅτι οὐκ ἐζήτησαν αὐτὴν ἀφʼ ἡμερῶν Σαούλ.
And all the multitude answered that it should be so: for the word pleased all the people.Καὶ εἶπε πᾶσα ἡ ἐκκλησία τοῦ ποιῆσαι οὕτως, ὅτι εὐθὺς ὁ λόγος ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς παντὸς τοῦ λαοῦ.
So David assembled all Israel from Sihor of Egypt, even to the entering into Emath, to bring the ark of God from Cariathiarim.Καὶ ἐξεκκλησίασε Δαυὶδ τὸν πάντα Ἰσραὴλ ἀπὸ ὁρίων Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἕως εἰσόδου Ἡμὰθ τοῦ εἰσενέγκαι τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐκ πόλεως Ἰαρίμ.
And David went up with all the men of Israel to the hill of Cariathiarim which is in Juda, to bring thence the ark of the Lord God sitting upon the cherubims, where his name is called upon.Καὶ ἀνήγαγεν αὐτὴν Δαυίδ· καὶ πᾶς Ἰσραὴλ ἀνέβη εἰς πόλιν Δαυὶδ, ἣ ἦν τοῦ Ἰούδα, τοῦ ἀναγαγεῖν ἐκεῖθεν τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ Θεοῦ Κυρίου καθημένου ἐπὶ χερουβὶμ, οὗ ἐπεκλήθη ὄνομα αὐτοῦ.
And they carried the ark of God upon a new cart, out of the house of Abinadab. And Oza and his brother drove the cart.Καὶ ἐπέθηκαν τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐφʼ ἅμαξαν καινὴν ἐξ οἴκου Ἀμιναδάβ· καὶ Ὀζὰ καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοὶ αὐτοῦ ἦγον τὴν ἅμαξαν.
And David and all Israel played before God with all their might with hymns, and with harps, and with psalteries, and timbrels, and cymbals, and trumpets,Καὶ Δαυὶδ καὶ πᾶς Ἰσραὴλ παίζοντες ἐναντίον τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐν πάσῃ δυνάμει, καὶ ἐν ψαλτῳδοῖς, καὶ ἐν κινύραις, καὶ ἐν νάβλαις, ἐν τυμπάνοις, καὶ ἐν κυμβάλοις, καὶ ἐν σάλπιγξι.
And when they came to the floor of Chidon, Oza put forth his hand, to hold up the ark: for the ox being wanton had made it lean a little on one side.Καὶ ἤλθοσαν ἕως τῆς ἅλωνος· καὶ ἐξέτεινεν Ὀζὰ τὴν χεῖρα αὐτοῦ τοῦ κατασχεῖν τὴν κιβωτὸν, ὅτι ἐξέκλινεν αὐτὴν ὁ μόσχος.
And the Lord was angry with Oza, and struck him, because he had touched the ark; and he died there before the Lord.Καὶ ἐθυμώθη Κύριος ὀργῇ ἐπὶ Ὀζά, καὶ ἐπάταξεν αὐτὸν ἐκεῖ διὰ τὸ ἐκτεῖναι τὴν χεῖρα αὑτοῦ ἐπὶ τὴν κιβωτὸν, καὶ ἀπέθανεν ἐκεῖ ἀπέναντι τοῦ Θεοῦ·
And David was troubled because the Lord had divided Oza: and he called that place the Breach of Oza to this day.Καὶ ἠθύμησε Δαυὶδ, ὅτι διέκοψε Κύριος διακοπὴν ἐν Ὀζὰ, καὶ ἐκάλεσε τὸν τόπον ἐκεῖνον, Διακοπὴ Ὀζὰ, ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης.
And he feared God at that time, saying: How can I bring in the ark of God to me?Καὶ ἐφοβήθη Δαυὶδ τὸν Θεὸν ἐν τῇ ἡμέρᾳ ἐκείνῃ, λέγων, πῶς εἰσοίσω τὴν κιβωτὸν τοῦ Θεοῦ πρὸς ἐμαυτόν;
And therefore he brought it not home to himself, that is, into the city of David, but carried it aside into the house of Obededom the Gethite.Καὶ οὐκ ἀπέστρεψε Δαυὶδ τὴν κιβωτὸν πρὸς ἑαυτὸν εἰς πόλιν Δαυὶδ, καὶ ἐξέκλινεν αὐτὴν εἰς οἶκον Ἀβεδδαρὰ τοῦ Γεθαίου.
And the ark of God remained in the house of Obededom three months: and the Lord blessed his house, and all that he had.Καὶ ἐκάθισεν ἡ κιβωτὸς τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐν οἴκῳ Ἀβεδδαρὰ τρεῖς μῆνας· καὶ εὐλόγησεν ὁ Θεὸς Ἀβεδδαρὰ, καὶ πάντα τὰ αὐτοῦ.

Jesus laments over Jerusalem, which kills the prophets

The same day, there came some of the Pharisees, saying to him: Depart, and get thee hence, for Herod hath a mind to kill thee. And he said to them: Go and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and do cures today and…
