Micah 1: Douay-Rheims, Vulgata Clementina and Septuagint (Sixtine edition, 1587)
Douay-RheimsVulgata ClementinaSeptuagint (Sixtine edition, 1587)
The word of the Lord that came to Micheas the Morasthite, in the days of Joathan, Achaz, and Ezechias, kings of Juda: which he saw concerning Samaria and Jerusalem.Verbum Domini, quod factum est ad Michaeam Morasthiten, in diebus Ioathan, Achaz, et Ezechiae, regum Iuda, quod vidit super Samariam et Ierusalem.ΚΑΙ ἐγένετο λόγος Κυρίου πρὸς Μιχαίαν τὸν τοῦ Μωρασθεὶ, ἐν ἡμέραις Ἰωάθαμ, καὶ Ἄχαζ, καὶ Ἐζεκίου βασιλέων Ἰούδα, ὑπὲρ ὧν εἶδε περὶ Σαμαρείας καὶ περὶ Ἱερουσαλήμ.
Hear, all ye people: and let the earth give ear, and all that is therein: and let the Lord God be a witness to you, the Lord from his holy temple.Audite, populi omnes, et attendat terra, et plenitudo eius: et sit Dominus Deus vobis in testem, Dominus de templo sancto suo.Ἀκούσατε λαοὶ λόγους, καὶ προσεχέτω ἡ γῆ, καὶ πάντες οἱ ἐν αὐτῇ· καὶ ἔσται Κύριος Κύριος ἐν ὑμῖν εἰς μαρτύριον, Κύριος ἐξ οἴκου ἁγίου αὐτοῦ.
For behold the Lord will come forth out of his place: and he will come down, and will tread upon the high places of the earth.
And the mountains shall be melted under him: and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as waters that run down a steep place.Et consumentur montes subtus eum, et valles scindentur sicut cera a facie ignis, et sicut aquae quae decurrunt in praeceps.καὶ σαλευθήσεται τὰ ὄρη ὑποκάτωθεν αὐτοῦ, καὶ αἱ κοιλάδες τακήσονται ὡσεὶ κηρὸς ἀπὸ προσώπου πυρὸς, καὶ ὡς ὕδωρ καταφερόμενον ἐν καταβάσει.
For the wickedness of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the wickedness of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Juda? are they not Jerusalem?In scelere Iacob omne istud, et in peccatis domus Israël. Quod scelus Iacob? nonne Samaria? et quae excelsa Iudae? nonne Ierusalem?Διʼ ἀσέβειαν Ἰακὼβ πάντα ταῦτα, καὶ διʼ ἁμαρτίαν οἴκου Ἰσραήλ· τίς ἡ ἀσέβεια τοῦ Ἰακώβ; οὐχ ἡ Σαμάρεια; καὶ τίς ἡ ἁμαρτία οἴκου Ἰούδα; οὐχὶ Ἱερουσαλήμ;
And I will make Samaria as a heap of stones in the field when a vineyard is planted: and I will bring down the stones thereof into the valley, and will lay her foundations bare.Et ponam Samariam quasi acervum lapidum in agro, cum plantatur vinea; et detraham in vallem lapides eius, et fundamenta eius revelabo.Καὶ θήσομαι Σαμάρειαν εἰς ὀπωροφυλάκιον ἀγροῦ, καὶ εἰς φυτείαν ἀμπελῶνος, καὶ κατασπάσω εἰς χάος τοὺς λίθους αὐτῆς, καὶ τὰ θεμέλια αὐτῆς ἀποκαλύψω.
And all her graven things shall be cut in pieces, and all her wages shall be burnt with fire, and I will bring to destruction all her idols: for they were gathered together of the hire of a harlot, and unto the hire of a harlot they shall return.Et omnia sculptilia eius concidentur, et omnes mercedes eius comburentur igne, et omnia idola eius ponam in perditionem, quia de mercedibus meretricis congregata sunt, et usque ad mercedem meretricis revertentur.Καὶ πάντα τὰ γλυπτὰ αὐτῆς κατακόψουσι, καὶ πάντα τὰ μισθώματα αὐτῆς ἐμπρήσουσιν ἐν πυρὶ, καὶ πάντα τὰ εἴδωλα αὐτῆς θήσομαι εἰς ἀφανισμόν· διότι ἐκ μισθωμάτων πορνείας συνήγαγε, καὶ ἐκ μισθωμάτων πορνείας συνέστρεψεν.
Therefore will I lament and howl: I will go stripped and naked: I will make a wailing like the dragons, and a mourning like the ostriches.
Because her wound is desperate, because it is come even to Juda, it hath touched the gate of my people even to Jerusalem.quia desperata est plaga eius, quia venit usque ad Iudam; tetigit portam populi mei usque ad Ierusalem.Ὅτι κατεκράτησεν ἡ πληγὴ αὐτῆς, διότι ἦλθεν ἕως Ἰούδα, καὶ ἥψατο ἕως πύλης λαοῦ μου, ἕως Ἱερουσαλήμ.
Declare ye it not in Geth, weep ye not with tears: in the house of Dust sprinkle yourselves with dust.In Geth nolite annuntiare; lacrimis ne ploretis; in domo pulveris pulvere vos conspergite.Οἱ ἐν Γὲθ μὴ μεγαλύνεσθε, καὶ οἱ Ἐνακεὶμ μὴ ἀνοικοδομεῖτε ἐξ οἴκου κατὰ γέλωτα, γῆν καταπάσασθε καταγέλωτα ὑμῶν,
And pass away, O thou that dwellest in the Beautiful place, covered with thy shame: she went not forth that dwelleth in the confines: the House adjoining shall receive mourning from you, which stood by herself.Et transite vobis, habitatio pulchra, confusa ignominia: non est egressa quae habitat in exitu: planctum domus vicina accipiet ex vobis, quae stetit sibimet.κατοικοῦσα καλῶς τὰς πόλεις αὐτῆς, οὐκ ἐξῆλθε κατοικοῦσα Σενναὰρ, κόψασθαι οἶκον ἐχόμενον αὐτῆς, λήψεται ἐξ ὑμῶν πληγὴν ὀδύνης.
For she is become weak unto good that dwelleth in bitterness: for evil is come down from the Lord into the gate of Jerusalem.Quia infirmata est in bonum, quae habitat in amaritudinibus; quia descendit malum a Domino in portam Ierusalem.Τίς ἥρξατο εἰς ἀγαθὰ κατοικούσῃ ὀδύνας; ὅτι κατέβη κακὰ παρὰ Κυρίου ἐπὶ πύλας Ἱερουσαλὴμ,
A tumult of chariots hath astonished the inhabitants of Lachis: it is the beginning of sin to the daughter of Sion, for in thee were found the crimes of Israel.Tumultus quadrigae stuporis habitanti Lachis: principium peccati est filiae Sion, quia in te inventa sunt scelera Israël.ψόφος ἁρμάτων καὶ ἱππευόντων· κατοικοῦσα Λαχεὶς, ἀρχηγὸς ἁμαρτίας αὕτη ἐστὶ τῇ θυγατρὶ Σιὼν, ὅτι ἐν σοὶ εὑρέθησαν ἀσέβειαι τοῦ Ἰσραήλ.
Therefore shall she send messengers to the inheritance of Geth: the houses of lying to deceive the kings of Israel.Propterea dabit emissarios super haereditatem Geth, domus mendacii in deceptionem regibus Israël.Διατοῦτο δώσει ἐξαποστελλομένους ἕως κληρονομίας Γὲθ, οἴκους ματαίους, εἰς κενὸν ἐγένοντο τοῖς βασιλεῦσι τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ,
Yet will I bring an heir to thee that dwellest in Maresa: even to Odollam shall the glory of Israel come.Adhuc haeredem adducam tibi quae habitas in Maresa; usque ad Odollam veniet gloria Israël.ἕως τοὺς κληρονόμους ἀγάγωσι, κατοικοῦσα Λαχείς· κληρονομία ἕως Ὀδολλὰμ ἥξει, ἡ δόξα τὴς θυγατρὸς Ἰσραήλ.
Make thee bald, and be polled for thy delicate children: enlarge thy baldness as the eagle: for they are carried into captivity from thee.

Jesus laments over Jerusalem, which kills the prophets

The same day, there came some of the Pharisees, saying to him: Depart, and get thee hence, for Herod hath a mind to kill thee. And he said to them: Go and tell that fox, Behold, I cast out devils, and do cures today and…
